| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2009 Pours a nice ruddy brown with a dense head that falls quickly. Smells like burnt sweets - toasted marshmallows, or seafoam. Roasty malts, with a strong hop undertone. This is actually really nice. Very, very dry, but with notes of flavors that are normally sweet - chocolate and molasses at the forefront. Some burnt caramel, and even hinting at some dark fruits. I’m wondering if this is the base for the WWS, as I can definitely see a similarity. This is delicious paired with chocolate! SHANER4 (386), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 7, 2009 12 oz. bottle - Poured brown with medium creamy beige head. Great lacing on glass.
Aroma - coffee, brown sugar and toasted malt.
Flavor - coffee, hazelnut, brown sugar and mild chocolate taste.
Palate - thin and creamy mouthfeel with average carbonation. Finish is smooth and slightly bitter with little aftertaste.
Overall - I really liked this beer, thought very easy to drink and alcohol is hardly detectable. Probably one of DFH’s better brews. Cavie (1509), Fort Worth, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2009 Had this one bottled at the Real Time Sports in St. Charles, Illinois. Dark brown pour with a lacy, white head, a caramel and nutty nose, a complex flavor, bready and a little spicy. Strong, alcoholic finish. This one is a keeper but would be tough to session. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 22, 2009 In terms of other DogFish Head beers... this does not rate very high. It is very dark, but not very thick. Flavor has strong coffee flavors. A tad of hops.... I’ll not get again. nathan30533 (164), Dahlonega, Georgia, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 19, 2009 Pours dark brown and is everything you should look for a Brown Ale/Pale ale Mix. Smell of hops and caramel malts. Good taste not long lasting and smooth. Taste is that of hops and malts. Great Brown. Changed (167), Ithaca, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 19, 2009 12oz. Pours deep deep brown/black/red. Nice tan head, don’t recall the lacing. Malty and earthy, with a lasting taste- but the hops are there too. Surprising treat for someone who thought 60/90/120 was all DFH could do. RyanMM (47), Ferndale, Michigan, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Feb 17, 2009 Fruity yet bitter. Beautiful look in the glass, but I’m not entirely won over by the flavor profile. Pretty decent but not something I’d drink most of the time.
