This is another great beer from them. Complex brown ale - malty with hop bitterness, coffee, chocolate, molasses, and a slight smokiness. Nice coffee/roasted malt aroma. Noticeable alcohol in a good way. I don’t know what’s so Indian about it - my guess is that they’re just trying to be racist. DSG (1513), Tel Aviv, Israel

Very dark brown color with a pretty, rocky, beige head. Aroma of some floral hops, roasted malt and some caramel. Bitter hoppy flavor with grapefruit hints, some sweet roasted malt , coffee and notes of alcohol. Medium-bodied. The strong hops and malt flavors are clashing and creating a train wreck. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 26, 2009 Updated: Mar 15, 200912oz bottle poured into an English pint glass. DHIBA pours brown (duh!) with a medium-sized off-white head that leaves nice lacing. The aroma is wonderfully full of light coffee, raisin, and roasted woods. The body is very thick and chewy with a nice hops zing to liven things up. There are lots of dark roasted flavors in here to explore to include coffee beans, hard wood and molasses. There may even be a hint of ginger in there hiding with the hops. Yum yum!
I’d like to add a side note, some week later than the original rating. I drank an Avery Thirteen and then had a DHIBA. This beer is SO MUCH BETTER than the Avery. watson1977 (272), , Pennsylvania, USA

Has a beautiful deep, hazy dark brown color. Aroma is of malts, hops, nuts, coffee, and a little bit of a burnt scent. This tastes so smooth, probably one of the smoothest brown ales I’ve had. Has a pleasant full bodied aftertaste that is nothing short of near perfection. Another quality brew from Dogfish Head. Cheers. JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2009 Bottle into Sam Adams Lager glass. Pours a very dark clear brown with hints of red escaping, and a one-finger, pillowy khaki head that doesn’t want to go away. Solid wall of heavy lacing. Nose is a nice combination of roasty coffee, bit of caramel sweetness, molasses. Taste starts off with a dry, roasty bready note, hints of molasses and even cola sweetness, with dark fruit and molasses coming out more around mid-palate, hints of cocoa. Roasty coffee note starts to take over right before the finish, with just a hint of floral hops, and the finish is very dry and lingers fairly lightly on the palate. Mouthfeel is fairly creamy, medium bodied. Seems more like a combination of a dry porter and a brown than anything. Good beer, but not my favorite take on the style. gunhaver (1025), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 11, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown color, with a big rocky cotton candy-like tan head and prominent lacing. Aroma of raisins, coffee, ground roast, caramel. Big roasted flavors, with coffee being prominent and caramel finishing softly through the harshness of the roast. Smooth smokiness is present throughout. Drinkable, very good.
