Poured a dark brown with a very thick head. Smells of hops, coffee, and caramel. Taste is slightly sweet and bitter with loads of coffee and caramel. Hops are also present in the finish. A very good brown ale.

This beer tastes like beer. The color seemed like a super dark brown with a thin head but holding it up to the light made it look cranberry red. smelled of light sweetness. tasted very roasted barley with a bitter finish and another taste that was like the charred bits of some sweet pork ribs. sweet but burnt.

Pours a dark, almost black, brown with a slight head. The aroma is full of blueberries... really reminds me of the blueberry beer that dogfish head puts out. Ther is also the usual dogfish yeastiness. The flavor is very similar to the palo santo, but with the dark fruit and nut character from the aroma. The finish is a little spicy in the dogfish style. A really superb beer.

2007 Bottle - Pours a deep brown with a small and quickly dissipating tan head...aroma is all molassas malt, a bit of fruit and a little char...flavour is sweet caramel on the front and fades to a bitter finish, middle is dried fruit, tobacco...I really get the scotch style coming through more than any other...kick ass

Bottle. Poured a nut brown color, not black but dark brown. One finger of head which dissipated in a minute or so. Not much aroma but slightly hoppy. Taste was very smooth, slightly bitter with sweet molasses. There was a hint of alcohol but nothing major. Very satisfying beer. I would definitely drink again.

12 oz bottle, pours a dark copper color with little head. Aroma is full and roasty with hints of fruit/sweetness- very complex and satisfying. Taste was rather bitter and mildly sweet. Palate was a little on the rough side but is to be expected with the bitterness. Great beer.

Dark, reddish brown pour with an off-white head. Malty, caramely aroma with raisins, some coffee, smoke. Flavor is smokey and bitter. Mouthfeel is thick. Pretty cool beer.

12oz bottle. Pours deep dark brown with nice thick toffee head. Leaves some heavy lacing. Smells of strong malted barley with caramel touch. Nice amount of hops to match the maltiness. The flavor is strong but in a very good way. Has a medium body and perfect carbonation.
