This brown ale poured a deep black colour with a nice big foamy tan head. To the nose there are scents of coffee, caramel, cocoa and molassass. First taste was smooth and very full bodied with flavours of coffee, hopps and cocoa. The finish is slightly bitter with flavours of coffee shining through. The palate is nothing but roast! Delicious!

My favorite brown ale: readily available, full-bodied, superb chocolate and coffee malt balance (with a hint of smoke), and a light hoppy brilliance in the finish. An Imperial Stout’s little brother.

Thanks to Dandman629 for hooking me up with this. Pours really black with a reddish tinge. Definite roasted malt aroma almost like coffee and cream. roasted malt flavor with a pleasing sweet bitterness that lingers like dark chocolate. Overall, I am hooked.

Very dark brown with a chamois head, this ale’s hoppiness is too far in the background, the malt too pronounced for my liking, and the overall flavor just to sweet..
