Massive malt presence with a more faint but detectable hop presence. This is an extremely complex, pungent beer that no one other than an extreme beer geek will tolerate well. Could not detect even a hint of carbonation in my bottle. A difficult beer to say the least. I am not nearly as high on Dogfish Head as many here are although I did have a nice consistent 4 pack of 90 Minute this weekend which was superlative. danielcurtis81 (890), San Diego, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 6, 2008 Holy aroma. Smell drips from the tip past my lips till I need to get a grip. Dark chocolate, molasses and cream come barreling out of the bottle straight away. Pours a nice even brown with frothy awesome tasting head. Taste is more of the smell but not to the same degree and with a slight alcohol dryness to the end. The sweetness might turn some off but 2 bottles of this is easily doable. Mouthfeel is the only thing that brings this beer back to earth. Could have been creamier but I wouldn’t want them to compromise anything about this beer to change it’s overall appeal. Very good to great beer. 2008 12oz. bottle. Pawola22 (735), Kansas City, Missouri, USA

Pours a deep, dark, mohogany/brown with a finger-width, fizzy, chocolate tan head that dissipates slowly, but doesn’t linger too long. Leaves a nice and decent lacing on the glass. Smell is extremely potent. Not too complex, but a ton of aroma! Lots of sweet caramel malts, loads of brown sugar, nutty, molasses. Also, some roasted malts and bitter hops. One of the hoppier brown ales out there. I absolutely love this smell. A real mellow and soft body. Kind of watery, but really smooth. This brown ale brings a lot of taste to the table. Loaded with nutty and caramel malts. Really rich. Good amount of citrus hops add to the character really well. Some hints of roast, brown sugar, chocolate, molasses. Finishes with a dry bitterness that lingers for a very long time. Lots of taste still there even a couple minutes later. Overall, I have never been a real brown ale fan, but dogfish head continues to put out amazing beers and changes my mind about everything. This brown ale has opened me up to trying more and giving the genre a second chance. I am thoroughly impressed with this highly balanced and tasteful brew. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 5, 2008 Pours a dark brown color with an off white head. Aroma is of nuts, caramel and hops. Flavor has that nice sweet muttiness that brown ales have, but is mellowed out by a nice addition of citrusy hops.
