| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2008 From a bottle purchased from By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a dark deep brown and mildly chestnut hue with a thin yet creamy tan head. Rich roasty, nutty, mealy, and grainy nose. Apparent hop spiciness, but predominantly malty and with a dryish grain finish. A meal in a bottle. RSRIZZO (1369), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 13, 2008 Aroma is a sweet roasted caramel scent. Color is a deep dark amber with good carbonation and a nice thick tan head. Taste is malty and bitter. Starting with a medium body it goes down smooth. Finish comes in with a sweet caramel flavor, some roasted and spicy malt tones and a mild bitterness. After taste is sweet then a bitter nip. This is a very good brown and my favorite so far from this brewery. Bigmmartin (378), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 12, 2008 Bottle. Deep brown with a thick beige head. Aroma isn’t very present, but still makes an appearance with some malt and coffee. Flavor is malty and bitter, with a few hints of sweet chocolate. Much more bitter than you would expect from an brown ale, which offers a nice twist. Pretty good brew, great for a brown ale. billtheman (50), milford, Delaware, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 12, 2008 Another super offering from Dogfish. Unlike a few of their other fine brews, this one comes in a six pack, instead of a four. Nice pleasent aroma, good appearing color, nice pleasent taste, good on the palate. I have to rate this one just a little below Dogfishs 120 and stout. NomDeBeer (400), Maryland, USA

Flavor is sweet coffee, roasted malts, caramel, and perhaps a touch of peat. Nice hoppiness to go with it. Attractive dark brown color. Very drinkable. jujubeast6000 (799), Houston, Texas, USA

Grapefruity, nutty aroma. Grapefruity, dusty, somewhat nutty aroma. Nutty taste, some hops. Somewhat bitter aftertaste. Okay. drjay44 (823), Salida, Colorado, USA

Thin head, nice dark color, some lacing, complex aroma, good mouthfeel, complex varied flavors, good hop finish, although I wonder if it wasn’t a little too much for the style. However this is an excellent brew. TOSG55 (75), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Aug 6, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep brown, with thin head. Aroma is of sweet dark malts, reminiscent of a porter. Flavor starts out with strong, citrusy west-coast hops, soon followed by coffee malts (the provided description of being a cross between a Scotch Ale, IPA, and APA is quite accurate). Not my cup of tea (beer?) at all; while the component flavors are all nice, they do not blend together well, and the overall effect is somewhat revulsive.
