Arroma is initially roasty BBQ, then some toasted nuts, burnt caramel, and dark dried fruits. Flavor has a bunch of raisins, some coffee and molasses. Full bodied but not overly, with generous carbonation.

Noticeable molasses and coffee grinds with a hint of flower on nose. This is a lighter heavy bodied Ale with a velvet mouthfeel accented with tastes of coffee, and malty syrup and sugar.

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 26, 2009 Bottle - World Market - Not much hop aroma and some malts but not as much as I would expect in a brown ale. Appears to be black once poured with thin brown head. Lots of different malty flavors that tasted good on the palate. Almost a liquor flavor with some caramel and maybe coffee tastes; but NOT hot with alcohol like some high ABV beers. The 50 IBU’s is noticed in the aftertaste. For my taste, I wish they would have moved some of the bittering hops over to the favoring boil time to catch more of the Liberty/Golding hop flavors. Overall - above average but prefer the 60 minute IPA. BVery (671), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 25, 2009 Bottle. Dark brown/copper pour, offwhite head. Aroma of caramel, roast, and hop. Medium mouthfeel. Taste of malt, chocolate, nut - very easy drinking, yet has pretty good depth of flavor. reverendj (48), Brunswick, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 24, 2009 The commercial description includes American Pale Ale....where did they come up with this. Dark, rich, warming, and thick is my off the cuff description. Very tasty brew that is full of roasty flavours and nicely hopped. Native Americans rejoice, this beer would have kept you warm in the winter! So good that my wife, a confirmed hophead loved it. nittanytide (45), Pennsylvania, USA

Clear dark brown colour. Small stable light brown head. The flavour is nicely roasted, slightly sweet. Not as vinous as the aroma, but still a bit vinous. OK balanced. Roasted aftertaste with a good deal of barley bitterness which gets a bit rough after a while. yespr (12426), Copenhagen O, Denmark
