Kind of a sweet caramel, almost fruity flavor. Just was looking for a little more complexity from a 15% barleywine. 45thstbrewer (94), Conowingo, Maryland, USA

Its good but has a strong aroma and taste of alcohol. But for me I like the 15%. Haven’t had a barleywine that strong before. fiulijn (7470), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Hazy amber color; creamy head. In the very beginning there is a woody aroma, with very light sourness, but disappears quickly; then there is only some caramel left. Good body strength, sweet caramel flavor, but the alcohol is too strong. Not my favorite. AgentSteve (1379), SF Bay Area, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 15, 2008 Pours an opaque ruddy brown with tight bubbled, off white head. Nose is bready and hoppy, with alcohol present.
The flavor is sweet and complex, with dried fruit and sugars standing out, and a slight alcohol burn lasts a bit. Not as much as you would think, though, from a 15 %er. Served slightly chilled in two large Reidel snifters. Poured a golden, if nearly copper color, with minimal off-white head. Big alcohol aroma, as well as pear and rum. Overwhelming notes of rasin and fig...but in a good way. One and done, for sure...extremely strong! Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, Cambodia

Splendid tropical red-orange hue like a hibiscus flower or mamey meat. The lack of good head and lacing is made up for by this attractive color. Smells really rich, like a platter of gulab jamon or caramelized brown sugar. Lots of jaggery and other brandy-like complex sweetness. Cherries and raspberries in aftertaste. Just boozy enough to be a happy beer but so smooth that the bottle disappears before you know it. One of the funnest (yeah I know it’s not a word!) beers I’ve had in a long time. Poured a bright orange-copper color with a soapy white head that left decent lacing. Aroma of alcohol, sweet, caramel malts, and strong citrus. Sweet caramel malt with nice citrus undertones leads into a spicy, bitter hop presence. Nice dry finish on the palate. I liked this a lot more than I was anticipating, and it wasn’t very hot for 15%. Nice. keepersj12 (816), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA
