Commercial Description:
Inspired by a tale of a cask doctor who brought sluggish ales back to life by suspending a fig in them. Brewed from 100% Maris Otter pale ale malt, a blend of fine hops and conditioned on dates and figs. User Instructions: open bottle, pour contents into two snifters. Enjoy. ALTERNATIVELY: Walk hand-in-neck with bottle into the middle of the woods. Use shovel to dig 2x2 hole three feet deep. Seal bottle in plastic bag. Place in hole and pack with dirt. Memorize location and leave. Return exactly one year later. Dig up bottle, open and enjoy.

Light amber pour with a very thin off white head. Dark fruits on the nose but much lighter in taste. Alcohol is noticable.

12 ounce bottle in Duvel glass. Beautiful clear reddish copper with ring head. Aroma of alcohol, cherries, brown sugar, nail polish remover, varnish. Strangely mild flavor, fruity peachy, sugary, with some alcohol astringency. Extreme alcohol warmth. There a small part of the flavor that is enjoyable, hidden behind the alcohol and furniture polish. Full body and low carbonation. Impressive, but I want to drink a beer, not stand in awe of it.

From bottle : Poured an interesting Triaminic orange with a small white head. I can taste the alcohol in this one. Very sweet and syrupy. Not too interested in this one.

From bottle : Pours a slightly hazy apricot color with a small white head. Nose is very sweet fruits and alcohol. Taste is strong. Very sweet, with fruits, with emphasis on lemons it seems, and there is some serious alcohol. Palate is oily and has a serioous warm burn on the way down. Medium bodied, pretty good for a barley wine.

pour is a cloudy light brown with a tint of orange, small white head that leaves quickly. smell is apple, citrus, sweet, malts hidden in the back, prune up front. taste is warm, bit on the sweet side, dark fruits, lemon, orange, leaves mouth somewhat dry and nicely bitter.

Poured a glowing orange color with a thin white head. This had a huge smell of dark and citrus fruits, caramel, malts, and thick syrup. I definitely can smell the alcohol in this one. The taste is much the same with very sweet fruits and caramel malts. It has a real syrupy sweet taste to it with the alcohol showing its wamring presence. This was medium bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel that had a sweet finish with the alcohol on the way down. This is definitely a big beer with all the alcohol and probably needs to age awhile for it to mellow out. This was still well done.

Long-time lurking, this is my first rating.....wow, this one is incredibly strong. Drank this at room temperature. Needs to be aged I think. Even though it’s 15%, I’ve tasted several beers with the same alcohol level that hid the alcoholic sting much better. Long finish on the tongue, taste really stays with you. Vanilla, peach, orange flavors with a syrupy palate. Great beer 12 months from now? Either way, it’ll put you under the table for a while.
