| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jun 28, 2007 12-oz. Pours deep hazy amber with a towering off-white head that leaves good webs of lace. Smells sharply vinous and toffee sweet as soon as you start to pour. Notes of aluminum start to creep in to the nose after a couple of sips, as well. Nice soft but palpable carb, surprisingly restrained body for 15%. Good bold caramel and toffee flavors, along with bits of port and very subdued dark fruit. Aluminum creeps back in for the finish and sticks around to the roof of your mouth for a while after, One of the better FDH offerings in a while (it’s probably not new, but I’m just getting to it). I’ll be back for more of this one. dmac (1492), Toms River, New Jersey, USA

Boy was I glad I stuck around for this one. Poured a totally flat looking orangey/amber with no head and no visible carbonation. Aroma was sweet with only a hint of alcohol and some fruit as well, fantastic! Flavor was sweet with a hint of wood, fantastic! I loved this stuff so much that I need to run out and stock up on it. Well maybe after I get paid next week. Floback (335), Naples, Florida, USA

Barleywine in the true Dogfish tradition. High alcohol, low carbonation. Much malt, hops, and root beer float tastes. Sweet and bitter create a clash of flavor. No where near as complex as Immort Ale, but equally as effective. nicolascage (105), Copenhagen (Virum), Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jun 5, 2007 Bottle. Sweet honey aroma. Not much bitterness, maybe hidden by the sweetness. Immort Ale is much better. johnadam2002 (529), Hainesport, New Jersey, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 27, 2007 Slightly cloudy amber pour, smallish off-white head that fades away to a thin layer. Nose is red licorice, a bit of candied fruit, and some rum notes. Palate is full with moderate actively carbonated. Flavor is nice – the sweetness is offset by some hop bitterness.
