Commercial Description:
Big Brown Ale aged on palo santo wood from Paraguay. This beer is a 12% abv, highly roasty, and malty brown ale aged on the wood of the Palo Santo tree from Paraguay. Palo Santo means "holy tree" and it's wood has been used in South American wine-making communities. We were lucky enough to get our hands on 20 blocks of the super-dense wood and the wood was added to the ageing tank after fermentation.

Poured into awesome Welch’s jam Curious George cup. Bottle thanks to my awesome brother and split it with him. Dark brown rootbeer colored pour but more opaque. No head really but a dark tan ring. Aroma is sweet malts. Flavor is the same plus a bit of bitter hop background, the aftertaste and the medium body is sweet, rosey and roasted tasting. Only very slightly warming down the throat given the high abv. Such a cool idea - I love that there’s a tree in the world you can shoot with a bullet and it won’t even penetrate it.

Pours very dark. Aroma is not as pronounced as other brew styles. Quite thick. Not much in the way of hops, which I prefer. Very malty beer. I grabbed this one to try because it looked like a limited time only brew and I wanted to at least giveit a shot.

I thought this big brown beer was amazing. Off tap at their Ale House. Nice and thick, just enough hops, a very smooth flavor. I could drink this all day.

Bottle. 12 oz. Pours deep brownish amber, with a thin, quickly diminishing tan head. Aroma of figs, raisins, plums, and hints of chocolate, toffee, bread, and malts. Smooth, creamy moutfeel with a nice warming in the finish. Overall, an outstanding strong ale, which could very well be considered a stout.

Sweet and spicy aroma that reminds me of carrot cake, molasses, and vanilla. Tastes better than it smells, including notes of: birch, sassafras, and espresso. Heavy body, and a pleasantly smooth aftertaste. Slight warming, and notes of alcohol present throughout.

Bottle Pours out black topped with a small tan head. Aroma is of rich roast malts, some chocolate, that 12% and brown sugar. Taste of sweet milk chocolate, light wood, dark roast, and some pit fruit. Very nice mouth feel.

almost opaque. tan head. smells of malt, milk chocolate, heavy cream. Flavor is more sweet milk chocolate, cream, pruney, with a little cherry and a wet wood really showing at the end in a strong way. Huge body with a creamy fizz. Very compelling but somewhat sludge-y.

Bottle from Bellingers, Jet Garage, Grove Nr Wantage, Oxon consumed at Kolding City Campsite, Kolding Denmark, 24-10-09 Pours black with a light beige head, there is some liquorice and wood on the nose. Quite a tarry taste in the mouth, with sticky bitter toffee, soft in the mouth also. The alcohol is quite noticeable, some vanilla and dark sticky fruits. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6
