Minimal aroma of brown sugars. Very sweet flavor. Raisin, malt, figs. Light on the pallet. Very carbonated. Prickly on the tongue. Surprisingly good. Not my favorite style, but would enjoy on occasion. fidel (1013), Livermore, California, USA

The raisons begin to merge about halfway but are fighting with the burnt malt flavor. This is not a pretty good beer (a little malty for my taste), but it is not what I expected after reading the label. I guess I was expecting something a little more port-like. Overall, I liked it more than I thought and in spite of the malt. JediMindTricks (240), Hampton, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 13, 2009 Dark amber color with a white head and clear body. Nice blend of hop and light fruit flavors; the flavor and alcohol are well-balanced...it is what it is... mihalis (21), Irving, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 13, 2009 I previously rated this beer after drinking a Sierra Nevada Bigfoot which, I am sad to say, ruined my palate for the evening. Hence, I was incredibly harsh on this one when I shouldn’t have been. Lesson learned is NOT to drink this beer after a palate-killer like Bigfoot (or Arrogant Bastard, Yeti Imperial Stout, etc). You won’t enjoy it as much and you’ll waste it. Anyhow, here’s a more accurate assessment...
Pours a very dark amber to reddish brown. Malty nose with a hint of brown sugar. I don’t smell any raisin, although the label says it has green raisin...maybe it’s just me. Gentle, creamy mouthfeel with not too much carbonation. Tastes of fruit and malt. Slight bitter aftertaste that disappears quickly. Overall, not my raison d’être, but not a bad beer either. astrivian (16), Colorado, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 11, 2009 This beer pours a golden brown color with a thick white head. The aroma is obviously of raisin and caramel. The flavor is how it smells but not as harsh as it’s much more alcoholic big brother but it still has great warmth as the after taste and the raisins really come through in the end. vtafro (477), , New Jersey, USA
