Boozy grapey aroma with a little brown sugar and molasses. Caramel/mahogany on the pour with a pure white head. Tastes of a bitey boozey abbey ale. Flavor is muted by the dry tartness of the beer. Palate has some bitey carbonation added to it. Raisin/grape aftertaste. edfitz (114), Toledo, Ohio, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2008 Pours a dark amber red brown color with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma is very nutty and malty. Maybe some slight sweet raisin and prune fruitiness. I also almost detect some chocolate malt. Flavor Very strong sense of malts and fruits. The raisins become more apparent. Starts sweet and sugary with small bread and biscuity malts. Picks up some raisin and prune in the middle but heads fairly mild and smooth. Medium body and average carbonation. Nice beer all around. Very smooth and easy to drink but a fairly complex flavor. Not very hoppy but it doesn’t need to be. joeymacaroni (228), Wagontown, Pennsylvania, USA
