Boozy grapey aroma with a little brown sugar and molasses. Caramel/mahogany on the pour with a pure white head. Tastes of a bitey boozey abbey ale. Flavor is muted by the dry tartness of the beer. Palate has some bitey carbonation added to it. Raisin/grape aftertaste.

Dec 31, 2008 Dark brown with lacy head. Dry and sweet with tastes of dark fruit. Smooth and velvety with a warming presence of alcohol. A very complex, nice malty beer.

Dec 30, 2008 Pours brown with a reddish hue, with a off white head that goes away quickly. No lacing on glass. Smells of sweet fruit, malt, with a nice nuttiness. Taste is similar with alcohol appearent followed by some yeast, coffee and carmel. Slight complexity as wine and smoky flavor like whiskey. Very nice overall brew.

Dec 30, 2008 2007 Bottle - Pours deep, dark orange with a large, quickly dissipating off white head...aroma is all sugary malt, dried fruit...flavour follows pretty true to the nose...very mellow and smooth, a year in the bottle definitely rounds this brew out...great alcohol, great finish...

Dec 29, 2008 Pours a dark amber red brown color with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma is very nutty and malty. Maybe some slight sweet raisin and prune fruitiness. I also almost detect some chocolate malt. Flavor Very strong sense of malts and fruits. The raisins become more apparent. Starts sweet and sugary with small bread and biscuity malts. Picks up some raisin and prune in the middle but heads fairly mild and smooth. Medium body and average carbonation. Nice beer all around. Very smooth and easy to drink but a fairly complex flavor. Not very hoppy but it doesn’t need to be.

Dec 26, 2008 draft @ 4 dogs. pours a cabernet burgundy with a quickly dissipating sienna head. malty aromas of coffee, mocha, and cocoa, lots of dark fruit, raisins, toast. flavors of dartk fruit, coffee, roasted malts, toffee, peanut brittle. mouthfeel is initially sweet, but dry at finish. slight lacing. after is earthy, dry roasted malt, candied dark pit fruit, and a slight nuttiness.

Dec 22, 2008 musky nose. molasses and dates. Big thick sweet body but still light on the edges of the tongue. Nice to sip and very satisfying. Goes well with a blue cheese.
