Pours dark copper with an off-white head, fades to moderate lacing. Nose of raisins and figs and malt. Medium mouthfeel, crisp at first, with a good malty backbone and rich fruit taste. Roasty, chocolate-maltiness too. A good beer.

Pours dark brown with small head. Definite fig and fruit aroma. Feels nice in the mouth and has a deep flavor. Good flavor of dark malts and I get just a bit of coffee flavor at the end. This is a good choice for relaxing at the end of the night, or even outdoors on a cold night.

Pours a great off-brown colored head that quickly fizzles away to reveal a deep, clear red body with a steady flow of carbonation from the bottom of the tulip glass. Almost lace-less. Aroma of roasted malts and beet sugar. Flavor os pit fruitand malts, alcohol detectable. Sweet and a tad puckery on the cheeks. A great mouthfeel... respectable. Clean finish.

Reddish Brown color. Small white bubbly head. Raisin flavor very sweet and sugary. I was expecting a bit more from this brew.

Pours dark reddish brown with a thin head. The nose is brown sugar, raisin, prunes, and molasses. The taste is very similar with a small amount of booze. This is a pretty good twist on a brown ale.

Pours a rich mahogany with no head. chocolate, raisin, cough drop, earthy, aromas. Palate is a bit thin, but taste is complex. Mostly a sweet flavor with a hint of wine, some chocolate and coffee in the finish.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Chesapeake (bottled August 11, 2009). Reddish-brown pour with a thin off-white head. Aroma of brown sugar, sweet raisins, and a hint of chocolate. Flavor of prune, cherries, and molasses. The Belgian yeast and candi sugar is not as present as in most Belgian-style beers. The alcohol is barely, if at all, present. Overall, this is a really good offering from Dogfish...Another note, Dogfish beers often age well. The last bottle I tried of this had over a year on it and I was underwhelmed. This beer, however, at 3 months old is just right.

Looks like maple syrup. Dates, figs, yeast, and an impression of overripe fruit dominate the aroma. Flavour has a backbone of dirty earth. Yeast pinches the tongue and meshes with the hops to form a single sensation. Raw, freshly picked peapods. Scuzzy and intriguing.
