12oz bottle shared with Matt7215 and his brother, Matt’s bottle (thanks Matt). Pours a nice ambery purplish with a small tan had. Aroma is kind of interesting, green raisins (forgot those existed, thanks for reminding me Dogfish Head Raison D’Etre!), not a whole lot else, no yeast, little malts, but still enticing. Flavour, to be honest, was a little one-dimensional. Fruity with the raisins, nicely sweet toffee from the malts, with somewhat of a bite to it from the carbonation and the hops. Also tastes like just actual brown sugar. Complex as a red wine? Hmm, I don’t know, maybe with age. Enjoyable and decent enough, but it really didn’t blow me away.

12oz Bottle: Deep amber w/ hints of garnet & a small light tan head. The aroma is filled w/ candy sugar. Also a bit of alcohol & oddly the raisin does come through in the aroma, but mostly sugar. Flavor has a great roasted malt character, coffee. There is a little kick of sweet before the roast hits. A ton of sweetness in the finish & that is where the raisin finally boldly presents itself. The sweet finish lasts for quite some time & the alcohol is very well hidden. Insanely good beer, but also very sweet. Don’t think I could handle more than one .

Bottle. Aroma of candi sugar, sweet coffee, hint of citrus, fruit and nut caramel. Flavor quite sweet with raisins, prunes, grape skins. Earthy finish. While I can’t say that this beer was "bad," it was a very bizarre concoction of potentially good components, and rather unenjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a dark orange/light brown with a thick light tan head. Aroma and flavor are the same and rather odd. Roasted malt, bitter coffee grounds, and an odd sweetness (not quite raisiny, maybe its the beet sugar?). The odd sweetness and odd bitter coffee grounds do not work well together for me. This beer was downright undrinkable and ended up being a drain pour. Another disappointing beer from DFH.

On tap at Dogfish. Dark amber color with a minimal head. malty and somewhat sweet and the alcohol was present but not overpowering. It does have a little hoppy flavor on the finish. Nice stuff, but not something to have more then one or two.

(Bottle). Fruity aroma. Deep red color. Small white head. Flavor is sweet, but not cloying. Distinctively different. Pears and raisins. Dry lingering finish. Crisp and refreshing. Did I say different?

Cloudy amber with tiny off white head. Sweet fruity aroma with caramel notes. Sweet and sourish flavor with raisins and caramel notes.

I LOVE THIS BEER!! It pours a dark amber, almost red color, with an off white head. The aroma is HUGE, and it’s of burnt sugar and pine cones. Upon the first sip, It’s like an oxymoron of a subtle punch to the face, you follow me? After that, it goes down very smooth. This beer is almost too drinkable, and with that ABV I would be very careful as to how many you drink.
