| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 14, 2008 Bottle pours a clear, dark amber color with a thick and creamy beige head. Aroma has hints of burnt sugar, smoked wood and roasted malts. Flavor is sweet at first, some dried fruits, and then an ever so slight bitterness from the hops shows up. Aftertaste also reminds me of smoked wood. Overall it’s okay, but not nearly as good as a lot of the other Dogfish Head brews I tried. elihapa (1070), Honolulu, California, USA

Pours a deep amber, with disappearing cream head. Thick mouthfeel, and soft malty flavor. Finishes grainy and sugary, but with good complexity of caramel and cream and roasts.) sebletitje (1999), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 13, 2008 Pours real thin head, amber reddish color.
Sweetness of raisins and sugar is present but one can quickly notice that this is a good 8% ABV.
A good choice to use beet sugar for a change. Reminiscent of a good Belgian ale. A fine Dogfish addition.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 11, 2008 bottle: pours just like they say it does a deep mahogany, with a small off-white head that faded slowly to a halo around the edge of the glass. aroma has hints of malt a little spice and very raisny like a fine brandy. The taste is very complex. malt up front followed quickly by a raison flavor that tastes of dark fruit much more than was expected from the use of green raisons. the after taste is of woodsy hops and fades quickly. Overall an amazing belgian style dark ale. Almost up to par with the real thing. kieleszd (83), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 10, 2008 Complex. This a beer that should be savored with a great meal. Fine cheeses, olives, spiced meat, its a suitor for all. Its medicating to the mouth. Rolling Head and a little creamy. Taste of malt, fruit and raisin. This is suitable for a whino, a conversation piece of itself. Amazing. westknife (17), USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 7, 2008 only ever had the 90-minute IPA so this was somewhat of a shock. really sweet, actually too much so, that’s why i scored it lower in the taste category. also palate wasn’t great, i thought it was too syrupy. but it was rockin some good flavas aight, i thought i was tasting the raisin but that could be in my head. basically this is a good beer, i’m glad i tried it, i’ll happily finish the 6-pack, but nothing thrilling really apshah99 (146), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 4, 2008 Clear deep amber pour, with thin light tan head. Weak aroma, slightly malty with hint of dark fruit. Starts with caramel and raisins, nice crisp finish with hops and alcohol. Frothy mouthfeel. Not bad, but I remember liking this better wehen I had it in the past.
