zootfinster (154), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 2, 2007 I’m in love. Is it legal to marry beer?
I think this is going to take over my number 1 spot.
A dark malty, fruity sweet nectar. Just enough carbonization to make it interesting. Medium hoppyness and very refreshing. A very smooth, easy to drink beer
BillWyce (20), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 6, 2008 BOttle poured into English pint. Sweet
maly aroma. Pours a deep red-amber
with a light tan head. SLightly syrupy
palate. The taste is mostly sweet and
malty. Some hops shows as it warms.
A very good ale that’s pretty easy to
find in the mid-Atlantic area. 1010 (23), Marysville, Ohio, USA Sep 6, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Taste sweet and you can sense the raisins. This does not taste like an 8% ABV. Very drinkable. TeamTrappist (153), jericho, New York, USA Sep 6, 2008 12 oz bottle. Poured a cloudy brown.Nose is sweet and yeasty.Very sweet front, maybe some slight cloying.Do I taste raisins? Duh. Decently carbonated, and a smooth finish.A similar trait to other american belgian style beers, as it is on the thin side flavor wise. Good but not great. Beerman6686 (724), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pours a murky brown color with an off white head. Aroma is of candi sugar, caramel, anmd some dried fruits. Flavor is very smooth, hard to pick out anything that stands out, but in this case thats not a bad things, every melds together very well. 17thfloor (650), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 2, 2008 Pours a hazy reddish amber with a small frothy beige head. Sweet aroma of raisins, dried fruits, yeast, dough and caramel. Lighter flavor, but very good, the alcohol shows a little too strong. The body is excellent, medium light with fine carbonation, but maybe too light for the flavor. Belgian sugar is easily detectable, some toastiness, somewhat yeasty/doughy, some caramel, dried fruits and a bit spicy. A fine beer on the same level as Goose’s Pere Jacque, but maybe a tad better. Worth aging.
