The aroma is rather sweet from the malt and a there is a hint of citrus from the hops. In regards to pale ales This is a superbly balanced beer, however there is something funky ( I belive it is the hops) about this beer that makes me put it in a lower overall quartile than many of the other APA’s I’ve had.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 25, 2009 12 oz bottle from Binnys singles rack (Orland Park, IL). Pours a bear transparent crisp amber, brodering on dark gold. A lively moderate white head dies quickly to a spotty film, fighting to cling to the edges. Aromas are doughy, bread and pale malts, flowers and floral hops, grass, citrus falling far behind. A touch of sweetness, different, proprietary biscuity DFH feel for their Pale Ales. Initial is fairly light bodied, a bit thin but quite drinkable. Bread, pale malts, biscuits, a touch of caramel and raisin.. Moves into floral hops, grass, earthy hops, very light citrus feel. An easy drinker, but a bit thin. Still, flavor profile is different than the typical citrus APA I’m used to. Overall, florals and doughy flour. Interesting, possibly a revisit as it certainly goes down easy without loading the palate down with hops. GoBlue (102), Falls Church, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 22, 2009 On tap at Alehouse. Clear orange golden color. Pine and light citrus with a touch of malt in the aroma. Flavor is nice balance of malt and hops. Really a nice balanced pale ale that I am much more impressed with than most of their extreme beers. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Oct 8, 2009 Bottle. Classic pale ale aroma, malty, wet. Attractive, robust white head. Full in the mouth but first taste is quite muddled. It’s a pale ale for sure. I guess when one is used to aggressive beers from DFH, this one comes off almost bland, but I think it’s pleasant enough for its style. Nice little bit of bitterness at the end. Nice lacing. I don’t think it’s that bad. dimenhetfield (183), , Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 3, 2009 A pretty decent Pale Ale as far as beer goes, but not as good as the other Dogfish beers. Worth a try, but nothing to write home about.
