Wooden hops arbor a concentrated, tea-like leafiness before plunging into a resinous bitterness in this lightly caramelized and velvety Double IPA.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam surrounds the misty dark amber.
-Carbonation was a tad low to make this easily drinkable.
-I didn’t get much definition (or pleasure) from the malts in this one.
-The aroma could have been brighter, or more enticing, for what I expect of the style.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 30, 2009 750ml bottle. Poured a deep copper color with a big fluffy head that settles to a half inch white crown. Mostly dark biscuity malts in the nose with a hint of soft piney hops. The taste is slightly bitter with a caramel sweetness accompanied by sharp hops and pine. A good amount of fruit flavors and a solid malt back up. The aftertaste is long lasting hop bitterness. A well balanced beer. The alcohol was subtle, but present.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Bottle/750ml - Poured a slightly hazy orange-amber in color with a medium white head that settles to a thin covering over the beer and produces some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is strongly hoppy... citrus/grapefruit and pine resin. Some caramel maltiness underneath. Flavor is an explosion of fruity hops... citrus, grapefruit and some other fruity esters like melon, white grape, pear or apple. Starts as slightly malty (caramel) sweet before the hops kick in and overwhelm. Thick and chewy palate. Not that alcoholic for its ABV. Finish is lingering and quite bitter. An excellent IIPA!! meintempe (1), tempe, Arizona, USA does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Id’ have to say I was a bit excited to find this beer here at a local Total Wine. The pour produces a little head that is white in color and a bit of carbonation is present. The smell is piney with hints of grapefruit and other citrus-like smells. Upon tasting...hmm...well to be honest I was a bit let down. It was bland compared to most Dogfish Head tastes (even the 90 minute seemed to have more flavor then this one) and was a bit boozy at the end. The mouth feel was syrupy which didn’t bother me. Overall Probably one of the few Dogfish Head beers I can honestly say I wasn’t the biggest fan of which is strange coming from a huge fan of Dogfish Head beer. sloth (1672), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Small offwhite head, decent retention and lace. Clear copper color. Mild hop nose, citrus, pine, earthy. Medium bodied, gentle carbonation, lightly oily, slick on the palate. Fruity hop flavors up front with notes of citrus and light melon. Caramel malts and a light graininess, lightly sweet and toasty. Lightly sweet malty finish that could of used some bittering hops. Bottles procured @statelineliquors. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 25, 2009 Pretty solid IPA with a honey colored body and sticky eggshell head that leaves a ton of lacing. Aroma is bright grapefruit rind, lemon peel, and orange zest. Lots of biscuit, caramel, and brown sugar accompany the hoppiness. Pretty well balanced and tasty. Nice mouthfeel that hangs around in the palate. Good beer. Magicdave6 (5491), London, Greater London, England

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2009 Pours a lightly hazed golden color with a sticky white head. Aroma is hops, malt, caramel, toffee. Flavor is caramel, malt, toffee, citrusy hops, very 90min esque but way more balanced with more hop aromas. I liked this one a lot. Good IPA. ditmier (1074), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 19, 2009 2009 Bottle - Pours dark and clear orange with a massive off white head...aroma is carmel and cotton cady, hop florals, grapefruit and orange peel, slight chemical astringency...flavour is sweet and very still, caramel, brown sugar, heavy on hop taste but only light hop bitterness, very subtle alcohol...I know this is past its intended drinking date, but still very tasty and interesting...
