WhiteAlePower (91), Long Island, New York, USA May 14, 2006 Absolutely brilliant! I had this on draught at the LI Beer Fest friday, Even before drinking you can smell the wonderful aroma of the spirulina! I loved this, excellent translucent green colour with a nice bright white head! JoeMcPhee (3862), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Mar 21, 2006 On tap at Spuytin Duyvel. The coolest looking beer I’ve ever seen poured. Shamrock green and crystal clean with a thick lime-jello coloured head. Aroma is pretty appealing, soft toasted malts with some clean noble hops backing them up. A kiss of minty herbal aroma that I assume comes from the spirulina. Flavour is well-balanced, light toasty sweetness, noble hops and a very fresh minty finish. Solid brew. Aleacolyte (13), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Mar 17, 2006 Tap, Sunset Cantina, MA. Interesting beer. Almost fluorescent bluish green color w/ a quickly dissipating head. Well-balanced w/ a smooth finish.
argo0 (6262), Washington DC, USA May 14, 2006 (draft) Crystal clear, deep green, white head. Aroma is medium sweet, cereal/grain, some peach, light grassy. Taste is medium sweet, grassy, grain/cereal, peach, cantaloupe, light lemon sourness. Nice bitterness. Light-medium body with light stickiness. Dickinsonbeer (2554), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Feb 27, 2006 Tap @ Rehoboth. Poured a wierd green almost like absinthe, with a nice fluffy green head. Very wierd to add spirulina, but kinda interesting. Aroma is bready with pils malt, earthy, vegetable like, but not DMS- a wierd vegetable/fruity aroma from the algae. Light but full flavor, malty, light bitter finish, and a seaweed, algae taste kinda similar to the green seaweed used to wrap sushi. THis was a cool yet odd beer to drink, cool idea, but I think some people might be scared by the color. This beer just felt "healthy" for some reason.
