World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

Pours very very dark (although not as black as some imperial stouts I’ve seen) with a very minimal brown head. Aroma is boozy, sweet vanilla, coffee, roasty. Flavor is molasses, chocolate, dark dried fruit like plum and fig, some vinegar/ soy sauce sourness as well. Ridiculously chewy/syrupy mouthfeel, just sticks to your mouth. A great beer, but not as good as some other heavy IS’s I’ve had like goose island’s bourbon county.

Big aroma of rich, dark chocolate; prunes, raisins, malt, and a little alcohol. Pours black with a tan head that quickly disappears. Rich, complex flavor! Syrupy dark chocolate, sweet malt, prunes, raisins, and nice warming alcohol. Amazing! 2005 bottle on 6/2009. Flavors are mostly the same as before (delicious!) the only real change is the complete absence of alcohol in the flavor. Didn’t expect that to happen so soon!

Bottled in 2007. The smell made me think of something I’ve never experienced before: A sweet, musty barley brandy. When it was ice cold, I really enjoyed it. The warmer it got, the more the sweetness of the molasses/chocolate came out. This was a bit too sweet for my taste. Overall, for a 18% stout, I thought this was a decent beer.

I’ve tried both the 07 and 08 versions of this beer and the pail in comparison to the 04 I just cracked. I’ve have a case of 04 chillin out in my beer fridge for about 5 years now. If any of you have grow distaste for this beer from drinking it with in the first two years please age a bottle you won’t be disappointed!!! It pours black or dark purple like a great port wine with no head. I shared this with a friend and used snifters. The smell is of dark chocolate coffee, dark malts, and alcohol. At first a part of me thought it was gonna be very over powering and very strong. But I was totally wrong it was very sweet and had the heat of a great bourbon finish. This beer was worth the wait!!!!!!

Pours a liquidy black with zero head or carbonation. Aroma is, needless to say, very boozy; Of nail polish remover, paint thinner, cane sugar, banana. Flavor is mostly of sweet whiskey and red berries. This stuff is pretty extreme; Not balanced at all. Palate is oily, dead. I’m glad I got to try this, but I’m not exactly dying to have it again. Overall, very good (not world class).

Maybe there was something off about my bottle?? Was a gift, dark-green cap but didn’t see a date.
Flavor was meaty, dark soy sauce, vinegar, molasses, sweaty horse, dust and sweet brown sugar.
I think I managed to sip through 3 oz before deciding it would be a fabulous steak marinade. It was. One of the better steaks I have eaten, actually.

Truly a delicious beer though it tastes more like a Barleywine than a Stout. Pours dark brown, near black with a definite bite of alcohol. Def something to drink with dessert. I would definitely get again.

Thanks to someone who passed a bottle around at CBF 09. Near-black body, tiny, tan head. Wine-like smell with modest vapour of alcohol. Taste a bit like port wine with large amount of tart berries and hints of bourbon, additional notes of vanilla sweetness. Lingering aftertaste with impacts of alcohol. Slow drinking beer (17.05.2009).
