Ungstrup (11147), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 25, 2004 A pitch black beer with a small dark brown disappearing head. The aroma is of rope, tar, alcohol, and raisins. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of coffee and chocolate and hints of alcohol. It is very sweet - probably the 18% ABV, that does it. A wonderful beer. omhper (10456), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 4, 2002 Black. I mean black hole black. Vodka nose, but after that you forget that it is ridiculously strong. Tons of malt. Roasty and pappery flavour. Increadibly balanced. Hats off! Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 23, 2005 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Black and opaque with a light brown head. Extremely powerful nose with lots of raisins and alcohol. Loads of roasted alcohol, lots of sweetness - as if the syrup floats down the walls of my glass. Extremely complex, extremely full-bodied. Like sipping Heaven. But only in small quantities please... 170705 Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 23, 2000 Updated: Dec 8, 2003Aroma: intense - massive malt, touch of soy; palate: sweet, flavours of Tibetan butter tea, sweet milk
chocolate, and just plain silky sweet malt. And most importantly in the superheavyweight division, it actually tastes like beer. What a concept. This release scored a 4.7 overall rating.
2003 release: Hotter, stiffer, more oily than the 2001. The fatness of malt just isn't there, and complexity is lacking. Still tasty, but to me a step down even from 2002 let alone 2001. Alcohol and light roasted malt aroma. Sweet malty, solid roasted. Smoked into and before the finish. Wineous fruity note too. Clearly a complex brew. Quite sweet finish, with a mild smoke note.
