"Vim and Vigor" is crossed out only on the 2002 release (23%), which is not rated under this listing
2003 - U.S. release (18.8%). No "Vim and Vigor" present, gold cap.
2004 - Bright yellow cap, no date stamp
2005 - Bright yellow cap, date stamp
2006 - Dark green cap, date stamp
2007 - Dark green cap, date stamp
2008 - Yellowish-green cap, date stamp
World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

Carmel, barley, coffee, ’’mahogany sweet’’, chocolatey, dark monster. Altoghether a very wonderful beer, quite balanced, and with the HUGE abv of 18, they happen to hide it quite well.

12oz bottled 11/18/08 - This reminded me of sherry on so many levels. The color, the nose, the creamy and woody palate. Kind of overpowering to me, but a wonderful expression of the brewer’s art. Amazing what they can do with simple ingredients.

Pours black with almost no head, just some wispy tan fizz on top. Aroma is very earthy and buttery. The malt is definitely the star of the show here. Caramel and a hint of some dark fruit, perhaps prunes. There is lots of flavor here. Malt, chocolate, cherries. Very boozy finish, but also very smooth.

12 oz bottle, 2008 version, imported from Massachusetts by my sister-in-law, aged a year in my basement. Thick black; very dark brown when thinned out; tiny, dark brown, frothy head that disappears almost instantly. Deep aroma of cherries and raisins, light chocolate and roast. Tastes absolutely delicious: Sweet malt, caramel, dark fruits, vanilla, licorice. Medium-thick mouthfeel but could stand a tiny bit more carbonation; moderately sticky on the lips. This beer doesn’t begin to show its 18% alcohol content. As the beer stands and warms it opens up and changes and becomes more complex. Outstanding. It’s a shame it sells for around $10 per bottle, and even more of a shame we can’t buy it in Ohio.

on draft at churchkey in Washington, DC. Easily one of the best beers I’ve had, incredible full flavor including berries, chocolate and much more. You have to take small sips, it’s 18%abv, but as soon as you do the flavor explodes in your mouth. Amazing stuff.

Poured black as the Devil’s aorta. Thoughts of Kim Batiste raced through my head. Had the same underlying sweetness as DFH’s other BIG beers. I’d like this beer to have a little more bitterness to it. Also, should have a more roasty flavor, as delivered from other Imperial Stouts. ABV is obviously on track. 18% is right in my wheelhouse. Solid all around. As Mr. Lomax said once, this beer tighens you up quick. Heavy belly burn. I hate to say it, but this beer is a little over rated, but it gets better as it warms.

I was not ready for this beer when it was poured for me. The aroma was malty, strong, and seem to change as the beer warmed. This is a big beer that hides very well in the malt and hops. The dept of flavors was very interesting.

Big thanx to my buddy Buff for a share of a 2003 vintage bottle. Big stout flavor with slight oxidation present but just enough to smooth out the character of this big alcohol monster. Nice roasty complex chocolate smoothness but this one is a sipper for sure. I enjoyed it and was even using a Framboise as a chaser which added a unique quality to the drinking experience! if you are lucky enough to find a vintage bottle I highly recommend the drinking experience!
