This listing encompasses: A) the November, 2001 release (18% abv), B) the November, 2003 U.S. (but not U.K.) release (18.8% abv), C) the November, 2004 release (18% abv), and D) the November 2005 release (17.8% abv) and E) all subsequent releases due both to their similarity in alcohol content and a lack of change in recipe. None of the releases’ labels provides its ABV, however:
2001 - (18%) displays the unaltered words "Vim and Vigor" on the label, gold cap
"Vim and Vigor" is crossed out only on the 2002 release (23%), which is not rated under this listing
2003 - U.S. release (18.8%). No "Vim and Vigor" present, gold cap.
2004 - Bright yellow cap, no date stamp
2005 - Bright yellow cap, date stamp
2006 - Dark green cap, date stamp
2007 - Dark green cap, date stamp
2008 - Yellowish-green cap, date stamp
World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

Pours dark, dark brown, settles black in the glass with a tan ring of head. Aroma is quite alcoholic. Notes are of vanilla, roasted malts, and some coffe. Flavour is quite bitter. Ground coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruits, plum and raisins, vanilla, liquorice, with a solid alcohol sting, and surprisingly enough, woody, earthy, dusty notes. This is just a massive, overpowering drink. Complex, but not really at all that pleasant. Carbonation is just barely there. It’s quite obviously not an easy drinker, spent quite a lot of time on only half the bottle.

How can I begin? Hella’ good? I feel no pain after this mother. Sweet like a good port. Dark fruits, Hi. Roasted grains, Helllooo. Smooth at the front and slow and strong at the back, just how I like it...I’m talking about beer people...

Incredible beer. I’m a big fan of beers that, as soon as they hit your mouth, overwhelm with their flavor while simultaneously smoothing it over with a bit of bite.

Bottle via the Bonster. We really have too many trades to count already. Yeah...18% ain’t no joke... I should not have been on the roof working on the ice dam problem after consuming this...although it did seriously help with the vertigo issue. I mean after the ripe plum stone fruit nose and first taste this sugary elixir just made me sit in the Barko lounger and enjoy a half-assed science fiction thriller and not make too much fun of their dumbed down concept of time travel in order to save the world. Then I got the idea to go up on the roof..... twice. It may have been more useful to have just hit myself on the head repeatedly with the bottle than to actually consume it. No power tools utilized, or common sense either....be careful friends.

Bottle. Very dark pour, small off white head. Pours thick. Nose of dark fruit and alcohol. Wonderful creamy oily texture. Taste of plum and raisin, boozy. Vanilla. Killer stuff.

Black pour can see a little light through it ... off white head aroma of chocolate and roasted malt taste of dark roasted malts, dark fruits and chocolate the alcohol is hidden pretty well as i drank down the glass it was more bitter .... definitely felt it after this one

Dark almost black body with a dusting of a caramel colored head. Aroma is incredible and complex. Powerful dark fruit notes hit the nose, followed quickly by vanilla and chocolate with a bitter end to the aroma. Body has almost a syrup like mouth feel with a nice tingling of carbonation. Flavor is overwhelmingly dark fruit, dates and figs, with a chocolate in the background. The alcohol only sneaks out at the finish, subtly appearing behind the strong flavor. Finish is nice and long lasting with a comfortable bitter dryness left on the tongue.

Bottle. Pours an almost black liquid with a very small head. Aroma is pungent and alcoholic with some roasted notes and vegetables. Taste is dominated by alcohol, with a rather small background of malt and some roasted notes of old salad. A bit of a disappointment, but it probably gets better after a few years.

From a bottle that is just over a year old. On the initial pour there is not much head if any at all, but that is to be expected. I get lots of fruit smells on the nose, plum, raisins, subtle orange peel there. Also I get slight chocolate and hints of coffee. Roasted malt there as well. You can also smell some alcohol on there as well but not much considering the amount of alcohol that is in there. I taste chocolate, some plum, alcohol, slight hops. Really almost too much to name in what you can taste there. Great beer. Full bodied but not as much as you might expect. I would say that anyone that loves beer should have this one at least once.
