This listing encompasses: A) the November, 2001 release (18% abv), B) the November, 2003 U.S. (but not U.K.) release (18.8% abv), C) the November, 2004 release (18% abv), and D) the November 2005 release (17.8% abv) and E) all subsequent releases due both to their similarity in alcohol content and a lack of change in recipe. None of the releases’ labels provides its ABV, however:
2001 - (18%) displays the unaltered words "Vim and Vigor" on the label, gold cap
"Vim and Vigor" is crossed out only on the 2002 release (23%), which is not rated under this listing
2003 - U.S. release (18.8%). No "Vim and Vigor" present, gold cap.
2004 - Bright yellow cap, no date stamp
2005 - Bright yellow cap, date stamp
2006 - Dark green cap, date stamp
2007 - Dark green cap, date stamp
2008 - Yellowish-green cap, date stamp
World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

Deguster au Mondial de la biere. Biere noire au collet fugace. Le rotie et le bruler frappe, suivi du cafe et chocolat. Puis ensuite vient l alcool, avec des touches whiskey/bourbon. Cerises et autre esters peuvent etre detecter. Impressionnante. Tasted at the Mondial de la Biere. Black beer with fading head. Strong roasted and burnt character followed with coffee and chocolate. Alcohol hits after with some whiskey/bourbon notes. Black cherries and other dark fruits esters can be detected. Very impressive beer!

Kahlua and charred oak nose. Black viscous pour. no head. Silky mouthfeel, full body. The flavor is not dissimilar to a Black Russian but with a bit of carbonation, currants, bark and grass. Finishes with prunes and smoke. The alcohol content is noticeable, but no where near as overpowering as one should expect for the amount that is in it. I would not recommend this beer to anyone who lacks the maturity to handle it. Seriously. I’m not sure this is still beer, but it tastes pretty freaking good.

Alcohol and rasin, red-winey aroma. Deep opaque black color with nice tan head. Sweet candi syrup with roasty and light hop notes. Nice belgian yeast dry fruits and warming finish as well.

12 ounce bottle 2004 Very smooth considering the alcohol content. Has to be one of the top stouts on the market.

Poured black with brown foam that does not last long. The aroma is sweet and malty with caramel notes. The flavor is cloying sweet, caramel and chocolate and roasty after notes. The palate is thick and chewy with warm alcohol and light carb. Overall a big beer that is too sweet for me. I think it would be better if it was more attenuated. Interesting flavors meld well.

VINTAGE: 2007 This is black. No light penetration, at all. Pours like motor oil. Thick and viscous. Beautiful. Two-finger head of chocolate colored foam that leaves a thin film. Excellent, even a bit oily, lacing. Pure, unadulterated, friggin’ malt bomb. Huge malty notes with caramel, toffee, coffee and dark chocolate shining through. Underneath, there are loads of very ripe dark fruits. Brown sugar and maple syrup. Big roasted notes. Booziness. What happened to that 18%ABV? Where is it? Wow, this is much smoother than expected. Freakin’ huge sweet roasted malts attack your pallette, in the most beautiful way. Dark chocolate and vanilla mixed with caramelized brown sugar. Red and black cherries. Plums and figs. Hints of bananas and pineapple. Hints of roasted nuts. Remeniscent of a very fine Port wine. Only better. Mouthfeel is big and oily, like I like it to be. Sadly, it lacks the creaminess that I think belongs here. Only a very slight amount of carbonation is here and I think that detracts from the overall experience. Although this is 18%ABV, it’s so well hidden that I would love to drink these, one right after another. I totally think that you could, too. This is a tasty flippin’ brew. The only thing to worry about is standing up after three or four or twelve of these.

Stars off off medium tan good head butback to fine lace,very dark IMP,aroma coffee liccorice chocolate very rich,alcohol like port,vanilla molasses cola like plum ,flavour mellow coffee roasted taste liccorice alcohol is noticeable but not overly,port and rich chocolate molasses hint a sweetness and bitter that are equal some fizz,sharp roasted tastes but mellow to drink,finish superb roasted tastes an even bitter/sweet good mild fizz,great on the palate.

Not sure how old this was, but it probably should have been aged longer. Much stronger than it needed to be. Very sweet and alcoholic, which overpowered the other, milder elements of the beer. Full bodied and warming mouthfeel. Mostly licorice taste with mild whiskey tones. Alcoholic aroma. Not a huge fan.

2006 12 oz bottle opened Nov 2009. From the cellar. I had three bottles of this in the cellar. Probably drank one when I bought it in 06 and the others have been sitting since. Damn it is nice. Sweet molasses nose with no noticeable alcohol. Thin and quickly dissipating head. Initial black cherry flavor with chocolate and roasted nuts mid palate with a slightly bitter finish that balances a medium sweet over-all character. Nice alcohol warmth and a smooth mouth feel. The alcohol was not over powering at alI. I tasted this on the heals of an especially sweet 09 Dark Lord and was very pleased with its relative bitterness. I’m a little surprised at the reviews I am reading because they don’t seem to match the beer I was drinking - maybe the time in the cellar was just what this one needed.
