IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Dec 12, 2005 Sampled at the Yeha. Poured black with a light brown head. Aroma of cherries, chocolate and strong alcohol. Taste is very strong and sweet... chocolate, cherries, tons of alcohol. Burns going down. Unbalanced, but nice as only DFH can. badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Dec 8, 2005 Black color with no head. It took a while to pin down the aroma, but I finally figured it out: cheap and poorly made sake. Jet fuel. The taste was slightly sour malt and fairly bitter, with what seemed to be an oddly high amount of rice. Tasted a little like burning. Gross. bum76 (23), port washington, Wisconsin, USA Nov 27, 2005 the best tasting strong beer i ever had from start to finnish is very good at slighly cooler than room temp...but at $8 a bottle its not a beer i can afford to drink regularly Amator (29), USA Nov 26, 2005 A very powerful very flavorful beer that belies expectations one places on a beer touted to be among the most potent in the world. I’d love to find a place that has this on tap for my next birthday. sprinkle (114), Carmel(Indy), Indiana, USA Oct 25, 2005 Bourbon and rtoasty on the nose, defininatly alcohol on the nose, black as night and not much head. Big coffee, bourbon, and high sweetness with like alcohol burn but nice. Needs a little more balance. Dick1984LS (29), 29 Palms, California, USA Sep 16, 2005 initital taste phenomenal but as soon as you swallow its like a kick to the face like a shot every sip. but hey what do you expect its 23% percent alcohol MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA Sep 15, 2005 Jet black pour small brown head show a decent lace and nice legs on the glass
Big strong aroma huge roasted malts and toffee plums raisens prevelant alcohol and some weak chocolates
Palate bites your tongue, full and creamy some carb and a hot feel
Flavor is dark fruits plums and raisens lots of alcohol, some dry chocolate w/ an
unidentifiable grain (barley is my guess though), then some more maltiness.
This beer is just over the top but still good stuff
Thank for the trade goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA Sep 6, 2005 This was the first giant beers I ever had and still one of my favorites. Poured black with a minimal tan head. Roasted chocolatey aroma, sweet and vinous. Flavor is sweet with chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruit, alcohol but not as much as you would think. That is what makes it so good that it is pretty damn drinkable and one beer and you are good to go. Full bodied mouthfeel.
