Ok I originally wrote a huge long, creative, humorous comment on this but it messed up. So, simply put: I drank a full 12 oz. bottle at Thanksgiving Dinner. This beer will rock you and light any cowboy’s fire to the depths of his soul. Not for the faint of heart. Possibly not even for the stout of heart. Only maniacs, masochists, and martyrs need apply

Remain seated for thsi ride (23%)! Poured black and thick with no head. Flavor was delicious and complex, not your typical Stout.

Very black in color with no head whatsoever. Sweet aroma of dark fruits, alcohol and soy sauce. Sweet roasted malt flavor with hints of port wine, raisins. Alcohol definitely makes itself known, but still doesn’t seem like 23%. Very rich, thick mouthfeel, but not cloying. I first tried this around 18 months ago. It may have mellowed a tiny bit, but I’m looking forward to trying this in a few years.

Dark, black as night( a night with no stars or moonlight)....no head,. very little carbonation.aroma of hops and some soy sauce.. sweet with alcohol prominent but not unpleasant...drinkable, or should i say sippable...some caramel as well.

Black, no foam. Big extreme aroma of tar, port, cognac, plums, raisin, paint and whiskey. Thick and warming flavour of raisin, cognac, espresso and plums. Long oily aftertaste of espresso, port and whiskey. Extreme. Prefer the 2003 version, though.

Molasses and raisins with plum notes. With a subtle touch of crème de cocoa that nestles in the nose. With a wonderful relaxing exhale to boot. Dark head tan lines of dark golden lacey oily syrup. Cocoa essence enhanced with molasses raisins and plums. With a slight coffee finish. Nice strong and portly in flavor is this one. Alcohol is very noteable but, yet sensual and yet oh so smooth. This beer is gargantuan in stature. I mean it’s HUGE!!! Very thick viscous mouthy feel. Heavy and heavenly if you will.

Very dark but not syrupy. Smooth. This is a serious stout without a hint of hops. I took 1 1/2 hours to drink one, do not pound down a six-pack of this in an hour. The alcohol is noticeable, so is some sweetness. Very complex taste with some raisin overtones. Be ready to pay $9.95 for ONE 12oz bottle.

Wow. What is there to say. The alcohol is very evident- how can it not be? Beautiful black- jet black. Leaves lovely legs on the wine glass. Lotsof port notes. Much more palatable then that shite that Sam Adams keeps atempting. I shared this bottle with my wife, and I easily don’t think I would have liked to try it on my own. I was glad to share it with someone.Truly unique. Yummy. Thanks Nuffield.
