Strong alcohol in the aroma, along with grapes, plums, sherry and hints of chocolate. Deep black in color, tan head didn't last long. Flavor is quite sweet, but there is a lot going here. Fruity, chocolate, toffee, and quite a bit of alcohol. Very little roasted grain character, maybe the alcohol covers it up. Quite warming - its been about a minute since my last sip and my chest and throat are still warm. Overall, a sweet, highly alcoholic beer with substantial fruitiness but very little roasted grain character. Definitely worth trying, but not something I'll be getting again.

I was excited to find the 2002 release at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido. For $8 a 12oz bottle, I got all that I expected and more. Aroma of brown sugar, caramel and heavy alcohol. It pours fantastic with a black opaque body and a thick one inch mocha head. Unfortuantely, the head dissipated quite quickly but the lacing was outstanding. Great body in the taste, sweet, and a helluva bite. I enjoy this stout immensly and I am a stout and barleywine kinda guy. This is like the best of both worlds. A great purchase and highly recommended. I matched this with the Dogfish Chicory stout and this absolutly punished the Chickory. Apples and oranges but still leaps and bounds above many sweet imperial stouts.

On tap at the Moan and Dove DFH festival. Gorgeous dark black, nice head lots of lace. Aroma was very alcoholic, roasted and somewhat chocolaty. Taste was cherry, chocolate and a very present but not overwhelming alcohol presence. Smoother than you would expect. Finishes somewhat sweet and alcoholy.

On tap at tht Moan and Dove for their big Dogfish Head fest night. Very dark with light tan head. Flavor has elemets of coffee, wine, berry, cherry, alcohol. Palate is difficult, the alcohol begins to burn the tongue after a while. Yet this beer is still drinkable and somewhat smooth, if it is even still a beer at this point. Wow.

sampled UK import version @21%, rich fruity, malty, coffee, toffee aroma, dark black hue with an off-white head, incredibly rich flavour, coffee, dark chocolate, hazlenuts, very slick and smooth palate, it is hard to believe that this beer has an alcohol content of 21%, this is a highly luxurious beer and definitley one for a special occasion, warming long malty finish.

The beer pours dark not opaque black in a white wine glass with basically no head. The aroma is firm and complex, extremely malty with plenty of molasses, toffee and prunes. We also notice the alcohol in there, but would of course never say 23%, making us believe this could be around 12% is an art by itself. The taste is also relatively complex, but way too sweet, almost harsh candy. The mouthfeel is full and a definition of syrupy: toffee, cinammon, vanilla, chocolate and coffee and an alcoholic malt finish. Definitely more on the barley wine side, but the sweetness is too overpowered for me to really appreciate this beer although I recognize it is a must-live beer experience that I won't forget so soon.

Very black. Very complex aroma of dark fruits, sherry, vanilla, chocolate and coffee. The flavour is extremely complex and powerful as well. It really fills your mouth well. The alcohol is very well hidden. If I didn't know, I would guess it was 12 or 13%ABV. After tasting all three World Wide Stouts side by side I think this one is the best.

Very strong aroma. Deep black pour with a fizzy tan head. Alcohol present in the flavor. Much more than the 120 Minute IPA. A little too strong for me. Complex flavor full of roasted coffee, roasted malt, spice, floral. I couldn't handle another full bottle of this. This is potent stuff. Drink with caution if you think you can handle this. Wow!
