Bottle 35,5 cl. [Papsoe tasting, thanks buddy] spare fizzy light brown head that mostly diminished. Spare lacework. Pitch black color. Aroma of bread, chocolate, coffee, toasted, berries, raisin, prune, date, wood, liquorish, brown sugar, vanilla. The same complexities of aroma are to be found in the WWS 2003. Only the 2002 23% are a bit sweeter and the alcohol shines through a bit more. Still this was an extremely nice experience. Full bodied with a flat carbonation and alcoholic oily texture. Heavy sweet flavor with moderated bitter notes. Almost like good bourbon with an alcoholic burning finish. Myrup really enjoys the heavy alcoholic finish…he he

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of JCapriotti. Dark brown with a vaguee, orange hue - almost no head. Extreme aroma of bourbon and oak. Extremely full body, extremely sweet with lots of raisin notes and other dried fruit. Extremely alcoholic with distinct bourbon notes. The immense alcohol feel puts this a bit off balance. Very subdued bitterness. Still a tremendous beer though. 080707

From 12 oz bottle. Pours dark almost black with no head. Thick roasted malty and strong alcohol note, not so balanced. Minor raisin note. Flavour is thick and heavy roasted malt, chocolate and liqourice but most of all dominated by alcohol. Dry ad dark finish with a slight burning alcohol. Way too much alcohol for my taste.

Old rating: Deep maroon color, nearly black, tons & tons of lacing. The aroma is that of cabernet/shiraz port wine. The initial flavor is sweet with a complex shiraz flavor, some warming alcohol, and roasted barley in the background.

Very good overall. Beautiful brown/black color, small head. Gorgeous aroma, fruity, striong in alcohol. This beer was VERY sweet, and the alcohol, while well hidden for 23%, was still very noticeable. It had an oily mouthfeel common to the stout. The finish is a little long, and warming, probably due to the alcohol. This beer ran me 8.99 for a 12 oz. bottle!!!!! On the plus side, I am well on my way to being wasted right now. :) This is definitely not the best imperial stout I’ve had (I would put North Coast in that spot), but very enjoyable.

Sample provided by kmweaver. Black body no head. The aroma is brown sugar, caramel, toffee and boozy. The flavor can be best describe as sugar water. Absolutely, gut-wrenching sweetness followed up by wave after wave of alcohol. Turbinado sugar, cola and caramel were all I could get before I had to stop the torture. Full+ body is sticky and syrupy. Terrible. Thanks for letting me try this beer Ken. It was truly an experience.

12oz bottle, tasted alongside 2001-2006 versions. Pours a dark, reddish-brown color; off-white head that quickly fades. Lots of raisins and nougat and dried fruits in the aroma; quite boozy and sweeter than the 18% variety. Enormously boozy and sweet mouthfeel, almost overwhelming: dense maple syrup and dried dark fruits; alcohol very present. Lengthy, raisin and dried fruit finish. Quite different from the others; significantly sweeter.

Bottle courtesy of jhop, thanks again! Part of our six year vertical. Black pour with no head. Aroma of molasses, rubbing alcohol, bready malt and more hot booze. The flavor held some bready malts, chocolate and an onslaught of hot booze. Hot and boozey over the full body with a warming/burning finish. I bet this stuff will be great in 20-30 years.
