2002: Wonderful beer at the higher strength. Definitely reminiscent of congac or port - fairly sweet and fruity with a defined but not offensive alcohol aroma and flavor. Vinious with a slightly detracting grainy flavor, not cloying. Dark fruit presence includes prunes, raisins and dates. Ruby-black color with very minimal brown head. This is sippin’ beer and well worth the dough.

Very interesting brew. Very Potent. Smooth with little bitter edge to it. If this is available in your area I would recommend you try it.

Deep, dark mahogany color with absolutely no head. Very strong rum, malt and cherry aroma. Sweet, sweet cherry, banana, malt and sugar flavors. Thick feel, with very light carbonation and a strong alcohol bite. I love sweet beers, but this borders on too sweet. Still one of the best!

This beer had a dark black color, and more carbination than I'd ever seen. It had a big head to start with, but kept bubbling, and faded away almost instantly, like soda. To start with it was vinous, and the burn of a strong alcohol. Syrupy too. Got better as it warmed though. Not quite as bad as Sam Adams Triple Bock, but it did remind me of it.

Looks nice and black with almost no head, aroma of alcohol (surprise!) and port wine. Can't taste the alcohol very much at all. Can taste a lot of roasted barley and some thick chocolate as well as hints of coffee and fruit. Palate is a bit thick and slightly oily

Coating the glass dark. Deep dark pit from which there is no return, traces of wet animal lull you to question what kind of brew this is and then you are hit full on by Plums, dark cherry and hints of alcohol. Sweet coating cheeries, ripe plum, raison, dark chocolat rub sholder to sholder like an NFL definsive line barly leaveing enough room for the little coffee roastyness that hides in the blackhole. As it bends light and your mind flavors start to mutate and transend to toffee, sherry, port, and honey.......heaven and hell in a little glass.

Holy F Batman!! Pours black with no head at all, I every poured it from the bottle 12’ into the glass and no head. Aroma is alcohol and barley and get this ’a fresh magazine’ don’t laugh smell and think Car and Driver. The brew is dark and black and lets no light pass thought it. Taste of port, brandy, banana and blackberry. Syrup and sweetness abound. (this beer has 666 calories in a 12 oz bottle. This in more of a really fine port than a beer. I cant wait to see how this tastes in a couple years. I feel that this ranks as good a Westvleteren 12 and is a little cheaper. Cheers! Rerate 12/14/2002 I had to up the aroma rating on this. As you drink it, the aroma becomes better and better, until there is 1/2’ in the bottom of your glass and you do not know whether to drink it or keep smelling it!

This is amzing stout. Poured very dark with very modest head. The flavors of chocolate and coffee are evident. It is just too much alcohol for a leisure like drink. I am just more of a lower alcohol beer drinker. Reading the other comments I see that I am not a fan of high alcohol beer.
