Soooo much alcohol in the taste. What a rush. Nice floral and vanilla smell, so appealing. Taste sends alcohol up through your nose like a shot of rum. Not as complex or as good as the 18% version, but quite acceptable. You can tell a lot of work went into producing this fine stout. A classic.

Poured a dark brown, with a small tan head that quickly receded. An interesting beer, very different from the norm. aroma was of roasted malt with a hint of alcohol. Taste was very similar to a port, hints of chocolate, plums, with a sweet sticky like finish, alcohol is well hidden, except for a pleasant sweet burn down the throat. Not an everyday beer, but an interesting and welcome treat. i look forward to see how my other bottles age over the next 2-3 years.

On tap at the Moan and Dove DFH festival. Gorgeous dark black, nice head lots of lace. Aroma was very alcoholic, roasted and somewhat chocolaty. Taste was cherry, chocolate and a very present but not overwhelming alcohol presence. Smoother than you would expect. Finishes somewhat sweet and alcoholy.

This monster retains all of the flavors and aroma of it's 18% big brothers and delivers not only more alcohol, but a bit more port-like presence. $8 per bottle is a nice price for a perfect dessert (same price I'd pay for a gourmet slice of cheesecake or taramisu). "Vim & Vigor" still proudly displayed on this latest shipment. Still just a point behind the Expedition Stout on my list.

Pours extremely dark black...opaque, with hints of red at the edges. The aroma is very sweet. At times I really smelled sweet plums, cherries, and bananas. At other times I got a hit of alcohol...strong alcohol. The flavor was sweeter than I had predicted. I think it needs to be that way for the alcohol to be bearable. Strong fruity flavors, sweet, with just a hint of alcohol (sometimes that hint became a hard thud on the tongue). Malty character throughout this beer, no hops bitterness to speak of. The body was thinner than I had predicted, but very nice. Smooth, silky feel on the tongue. Long warming feeling down the throat and in the stomach. As the beer warmed, I actually picked up much more alcohol in the flavor and aroma. The beer became sweeter and more rum-like in character. I'm still picking up bananas in the aftertaste...nice touch. Truly unique beer. I will never forget this experience.

Black. Aroma of Vietnamese coffee & phenols. Vague nuts. Mellow malt, vanilla, nuts, coffee. Stiff alcohol in the sweet finish. Good, but not great, like its predecessor.

intense roasted alcohol aroma, looks like syrup, so sweet and intense, this one is definitely max power, winey as hell, earned instant cult status on campus because of the outrageous alcohol, "one sip gave me a buzz", "that’s disgusting", and "that’s amazing" are all comments I heard throughout the room

This is a very strong beer. Gulping is not allowed. After drinking this I forgot where I lived, and I was sitting on my living room couch at the time.
