Strongly sweet, malty, alcoholic aroma, some licorice, plum and roasted coffee. Solid ebony in color with a thin head that eventually subsides altogether. Syrupy sweet, thick, very dark maltiness in the flavor, along with some apparent alcohol, vanilla, nut, and bitter dark chocolate. Certainly fiery and alcoholic but with a still, smooth, and slightly oily palate. While I did find this beer an interesting experience, I honestly felt it was a bit much. One could cellar this stuff for at least a decade.

Aroma is dominated by the alcohol although does have a nice touch of dark fruits and malt. Flavor is malty with some roasted barley maybe and finishing very sweet with lots of body. Nice beer to sip by a fire on a cold day/evening but a little to high in alcohol and too expensive for my taste.

Drank this a cellar temperature. There was a pretty strong aroma of alcohol. It taste like combination of alcohol, malt and coffee. I"m not sure I"d call it beer, strong stuff to be sure.

This was a great Imperial. Little head, as to be expected. Darker than pitch. Little aroma, though, besides alcohol. Pleasantly sweet, very fruity (defintely raison, prune). Surprisingly lighter mouth than expected. I really liked that it wasn't overly hopped and the sweetness was let loose. Alcohol all over this one.

A great beer for getting hammered quickly...Wonderful taste with the burning follow through. No hint of cherries though, whereas the chocolate hints possibly arise from the roasted malt flavor.

Pours an opaque black colour with no head. Aroma of burnt malt, chocolate and coffee. Heavy body. Thick syrupy mouthfeel with very little, if any, carbonation. Taste is sweet up front but then the rich chocolate and roasted malt flavours come bursting through. Alcohol is noticable but not unpleasent although I did wake up the next day feeling as if I had been on a good bender. I’m glad I tried it but doubt if I’d have another

OK my palate has developed some since I first had this, so it deserves a re-rate. Poured jet black with no head. Aroma of port, fruit (dark grapes?), roasted barley, and yes, alcohol. Taste was very sweet up front, then roasted barley, nut?, sweet chocolate, and alcohol all the way down to my gut. This is a strong one!

Almost zero head on this one. No real lacing instead it produces fingers like a wine. Lighter colored than the 18% but still very dark. It looks watery somehow, can't really explain. Aroma is very differnet then the 18%, more smoky and alcoholic while much less sweet. A big deep whiff produces a slight alcohol burn in the nose. The flavor is alcohol and burnt grain bitterness. Not much chocolate or sweetness. Mouth-feel is almost shocking, big thick bodied and very alcoholic. The finish is dry and alcoholic. Overall quite interesting but maybe a bit too much alcohol.
