Rich amber color with a medium head that dissolved into just a thin sheet of light bubbles. The aroma is malt, smoke and yeasty. The first thing I get from the taste is a light hop bite then a full malt taste that blankets the tongue. I’ve noticed Dogwood uses malts very nicely, subtle and not too rich. I usually don’t use "chewey" to describe a liquid but this description fits here. Caramel taste as the beer came up in temp. Falconseye8 (525), Cartersville, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 11, 2004 Not much head out of the bottle. Its not that important. Dogwood beers have been great so far. Again, this is very good. Dark Amber color, Good hops/malts, smooth with nice gravity and a quality mouthful feeling. This is one of the beers from Ross who’s a great trader and should be congratulated for passing 400 beers a couple of days ago. Thanks Ross great beer!!! ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 15, 2004 Not bad, nothing great. Kinda thin on the palate, but it’s not a big beer either. It was quite drinkable. sloth (1677), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 22, 2004 Small offwhite head that quickly dissipates with no trace of lace. Hazy amber/orange color. Malty sweet nose with flowery hints. Med/light body. Bready, sweet malt flavors, sorta thin though. Finish is medium dry. wunderbier (1267), Tampere, Finland
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 11, 2004 12 oz bottle, goblet. Cookie, dark bread, caramel malt (M); earthy, woodsy hops (L); a light toffee undertone. Dull aroma. Deep amber body with a small, fizzy, tan head. Moderately sweet flavor becomes a lightly sweet, lightly bitter finish. Medium-light body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: sticky sweet and boring. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 9, 2004 Probably one of my least favorite Dogwood beers. Strange aroma and flavor that lacks malt sweetness or hop bitterness. Kind of bland in a craft brewed way. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 7, 2004 This beer was freaky boring, tastes alot of Shiner. That is what I thought this was in a blind taste test, just a tad lighter. Nice balance, with more than I was expecting for the style. Boring.
