Commercial Description:
Dogwood Bock is a German style lager brewed in the traditional bock style to celebrate the coming of spring. It has a big, smooth, rich maltiness, yet is gently shaped and balanced by a firm hoppiness.

On tap. Not much aroma with this bock, but has a decent flavor with a bit of malt.

Darker amber with a small rocky head and spotty lace. Sweet malt aromas of toffee along with hops, the fruity kind. Bitter hops in the flavors followed by citrus and an earthy, musktiness. Medium bodied, slightly spicy finishing with malts.

Hazy orange/copper color, light head & lacing. The aroma is lightly sweet with some crisp hops and fruity notes. The flavor is good and balanced with a dry finish and a nice sweet full bodied mouthfeel. A good amount of hops for the style.

The description sayes German, trust me this is not a German style Bock with the heavy and thick malt overtones. It is thin and surprisingly bitter

(Best by 7/11/04) The beer has a slight chill haze and chocolate/orange aroma. The palate is thin for a bock, with an astringent bitterness. This beer is pretty rustic, kind of reminds me of home brew.

Tastes like a pale ale. Got some good bitterness and flavor to it. I'm not sure what a Bock actually is, though.

Were almost a month past their "best before" date. Good bock, a decent amount of hop bite for this style...I guess? Watery mouthfeel. Need to try fresh ones.

Reddish copper color with a thin, off white head that dissipated quickly. Nice lace initially but subsides soon with a low level of carbonation. Smell of grassy German Hallertau hops, caramel malt, and sweet spice. Tastes sweet and nutty with brown sugar, caramel, roasted grain, and hints of coffee. Mild spices emerge mid pallette but are very subdued compared to other bocks. Dry afterstaste with slight sourness apparent, but this does not detract from the drinkability. A bit thin, but a very refreshing take on the style.
