Aroma is highly hopped with some sweet caramel malt thrown in. Nice sweet and hoppy body. Reminds me of Sweetwater IPA, but with a little less malt. Peppery hop finish. A decent IPA. jgb9348 (2515), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA

Fairly strong grapefruity hop characteristics in the aroma. Light to Medium-bodied; Grapefruity hop flavour but not strong at all...fairly mild. Aftertaste shows a bit of the hops with an equal balance of malt. Overall, a decent IPA, but more reminiscent of an APA in my opinion. I had this beer on draught at Summit's in Sandy Springs (Atlanta), Georgia on 25-September-2003. ¾ (5011), Boulder, Colorado, USA

The nose is the requisite hops but with a sour hay note as well. Texture is too thin, with an overall flavor of apple juice taste. haddon90 (1043), Alexandria, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 29, 2003 Orange, amber color. A little sediment with a medium sized head. Some hops in the aroma with a hint of citrus? Overall not bad. On tap at Summit's in Sandy Springs. wunderbier (1271), Tampere, Finland
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 26, 2003 12 oz bottle, pint glass, 50 degrees. Off-white, foamy, frothy, tall head is on an orange-amber body that is quite hazy and appears to be fairly substantial. Citric (grapefruit) and piney hops; cookie malt; doughy yeast. Moderately sweet, lightly biter, moderately acidic flavor become a lightly sweet, moderately bitter, moderately acidic finish. Very nice balancing cookie-flavored malt does not challenge the hops, but rather, enhances them. Medium body, somewhat creamy texture, moderate carbonation. The bottom line is: Dogwood kicks @$$, period. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Aug 1, 2003 A medium orange amber color( a little darker than beige), some sediment, with a medium fizzy head. Mixture of English and American hops in aroma. A funky English hop taste that has been left to dry hop too long as the finish is too dry. It misses as the sweetness of the English hops and the assertivness of the American hops do not blend well. BierBauch (655), Cape Coral Waterfront Wonderland, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 20, 2003 Color reminded me of Anchor Steam, a nearly clear deep amber and a frothy head. Aroma was of spicy hops with a slight grassiness. Crisp body which mellowed quickly. Good balance between the malt flavors and the hop bitterness. Maybe too much malt here for my liking. Finishes bitter and a slight dryness. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 24, 2003 Slightly hazy orange-amber w/ massive, pillowy tan head. An assertive yet subtle citrus aroma w/ notes of musty wood, vanilla & spice. Nice creamy feel. Aggressive hop bitterness, yet enough malt to balance. Also get some cream and vanilla. Finish is mildly acidic and leaves a little too much alcohol on the palate.
