Huge floral aroma, incredibly fragrant, with notes of pine, earth, peach and tropical citrus fruits. Incredible in it’s nose.
The taste however, is very underwhelming. Mainly, the bitterness just isn’t there, especially considering it’s style. The malt character is mainly biscuit while more notes of butter develop as the beer warms. The hops are floral and quite spicy having notes of mainly grapefruit but also pine needles and whole cone hop resins.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 15, 2004 Appearance is cloudy orange/brown with a thin but lasting head. The aroma is mild, but hoppy. The taste is more of a dunkel or an english mild, with the hops only appearing (and lingering) at the end. There is an interesting woody/roasted malt that dominates - don’t see this as a good thing. ROund, yet dry finish. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 14, 2004 Bottle @ Summits. Pours a cloudy golden color with as big of a head that I wanted. Nice floral hoppy aroma but the taste isn’t as hoppy as the aroma. Malty taste and light hop bitterness. Very drinkable, kinda light, kinda mellow. jcc83 (137), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 7, 2004 Poured a cloudy orange hue with a good-sized white head and lots of carbonation. Nice hoppy, floral aroma with citrus and grassy notes. Well-balanced flavor included grapefruit tartness, accompanied by abundant bitterness and no real sweetness to speak of. Nice crisp, refreshing mouthfeel. Pretty good stuff. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 7, 2004 Hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma was grapefruit, hops, and some nuttiness. Lively carbonation and some astringency. Flavor was nutty (not as in crazy). Not bad but disappointing. omhper (12219), Stockholm, Sweden

Hazy orange small head. Light orangey nose. Sweet with clean rounded mouthfeel. Really hoppy with salty, bitter finish. Solid. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 24, 2004 Thanks to goldtwins for this one. This one breaks my Dogwood cherry. The pour is a nice turbid orangish/light copper with a medium, creamy white head. My initial olfactory perceptions show big ground black pepper, hops, roses, citrus, and some fruit. The taste is hoppy, with some floral and spice notes, plus citrus at mid-palate, giving way to a hop/citrus/black peppery finish. The finish is also on the dry side, with some resin and piney notes as it warms. The only other beer I ever had showing this much black pepper in aroma and taste is Sam Adams Boston lager. This one was complex, nicely balanced, and well worth seeking out.
