| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 8, 2003 Up there with their stout and decadant as best regular production beers (not counting winter 2001). This has tasted different everytime I've had it, but when it was on I thought it was as good as ruination or celebration. VA Homebrewer (525), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 1, 2003 Pours with an off-white head and a medium brown cloudy color. Looks EXACTLY like you'd want an IPA to look like. Nice spicy, earhty hop aromas are a departure from the citric, piney norm in American IPAs. Bold toffeeish malt body balances hop presence well. Hops appear throughout the flavor profile, which ends in a moderately bitter and mostly clean finish. Good, and a welcomed change of pace from the typical citric/piney American IPAs. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 30, 2003 Since I'm living in Atlanta now, it is my quest to try every dogwood beer :) Pours an opaque brown with a nice fluffy head. Citrus smell with a grapefuit taste. Slightly tart, but the malt balances it out. Good for the style but I'm not sure american breweries are getting it right yet. Overall, a pretty good offering from dogwood. JohnC (2288), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Nov 25, 2003 Opaque orange color with a frothy white head. Not much aroma. The flavor is slightly hoppy, but a bit thin. This is a nice session beer. It would be good w/ pizza or burgers raindog (559), Evansville, Indiana, USA

Some yeast aroma as well.Creamy, fizzy feel. Watery texture. Lots of hops and yeast in the flavor. Light malt flavors. Woody, spicy hop finish. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 16, 2003 Light crisp amber color with an average sized puffy head and slight lacing sticking down the glass. The aroma is very mild, light hops and sweet malt but nothing much else. The flavor is very balanced with a bitter start from the hops and a sweet malty end. The mouthfeel is more malty, the hops are not too asertive. Overall this seems a little underhopped for an IPA but is still very well balanced and has some clean flavors.
