bottle from goldtwins. pours light auburn with a thin bubble head. alcohol and licorice nose with a bit of apricot. flavor is sugared roses, dry hop goodness, blueberry pancake, cherry, lots of strawberry. i’m amazed at how the the bitterness has lasted. dusty floral finish with raisins. some banana, and a berrylicious dry finish. there is some watermelon sweetness that is nice. amazing bitter balance to this sweet joy of a beer. thanks, Larry.

March 23, 2008 -- Tasting just as great as the original... maybe some higher fruit aspects in the taste with a bit better balance than before that results in a slighly bubblegum flavor while not being so at all (if that makes any sense). Aroma now adds a bit of chocolate that makes it perfect. Ending is absolutly amazing... I couldn’t ask for a better beer.

Huge thanks to TheBeerCeller2 for bringing this awesome beer to Richmond for us, and to Crawford Moran for brewing it and supplying it to him. Beautiful ruby-brown body with a nice creamy off-white head. Excellent aroma, cheddar, sweet fruit. Great taste, raspberry, cherry, hops and maybe some light toffee. Great ending, sweet and perfect for a Barley Wine. Utterly amazing stuff. 9/5/9/5/18 = 4.6

Hazy dark copper color with a thin creamy white head. Sweet caramel aroma, some fruit and hints of oak. Sweet caramel flavor, some more fruit, and some vanilla in the end. Thanks to Crawford Moran for brewing this delight!

Thanks to Thebeercellar2 for this one. Pours out a deep ruby brown color with a very small lacing head. Aroma is of some honey and some oak, along with the typical malts. Nice mouthfeel with a complex taste of vanilla, honey dried fruits and a bit of an alcohol bite on the finish. Usually dont’ like BW’s too much but this one was good

Bottle from KP as part a DL Day trade. Thanks, KP! Poured alongside an 03 Smuttynose and an 01 Old Dominion at Rob’s gathering. My personal favorite of the 3, and an excellent barleywine all around. Notes of orange zest and caramel on the palate lead into brown sugar, honey, and oak. Dried figs and dates and cinnamon and vanilla bean as well. Its especially drinkable, well rounded, not hot, smooth, thick, rich. Great stuff!

Bottle, from trade with goldtwins. Good nose, sweet. Ginger beer, apple cider. Gives me a Dark-N-Stormy scent. Cloudy brownish orange color, small head hat faded quickly to nothing. Sweet flavor with bite. Like nose, though I get more of fig/date & butterscotch maly flavor. ABV shows itself. A little orange too. Medium body, smooth creamy mouthfeel, sweet kind of harsh finish. Nice, familiar though. Guess this one could still sit abit as I thought it was still harsh. Thanks goldtwins for this retired treat.

Strange, the bottle had no label. Pours out a deep red color with no head. Flavor is very nice. It is sweet with a nice alcohol bite just to let you know what your drinking. Aroma is sweet with hints of hops and malts. This thing was a wonderful brew.
