22 oz. bottle courtesy of cletus. Pours a hazy dark amber color with a small off white head and showing a slight amount of carbonation. The aroma still has a nice caramel malt base with dark fruits (plums, prunes) and a very slight hop presence. Oxidation is present, but this is holding up well. The flavor is moderately sweet caramel malt, dark fruits, surprising hop bitterness in the finish. The 10% is never a factor. Sticky and medium-full bodied.

Taster – 2008 Great Salt Lake Festivus – Beer Session – Wow this was a pretty darn good barley wine. Had lots of good malts and flavors high in alcohol this beer lasted and was still pretty tasty.

Bomber with no label thanks to Eric, drank at his holiday party. Pours a cloudy brown color with a nice light brown head. The aroma is sweet caramel, sugars, some nutty notes. The taste is very smooth and nice, sweet toffee, sugars, some light hops, buttery and sweet. A nice style, I am sorry this brewery is gone. I am glad I got to try this.

10/22/2008: Dogwood Excellent Adventure has a fruity malt aroma that exhibits apple and prune as well as some decomposing hops. There is also a bit of oxidation setting in for sure at this point. The appearance is a hazy, golden caramel color. It still has a decent level of carbontation, although the thin, off-white crown disappears. The flavor is sweet for a brief moment and then becomes hoppy with a nice presence of caramelly malt. There is still some hop flavor and bitterness there. It isn’t huge, but it is still drinking good (in my opinion) and is quite well-balanced. The alcohol makes an appearance as it warms, but it still kept in check my the maltiness. This beer has a medium body and goes down very easily for the style, alcohol content, and maltiness. I’m not quite sure how old the beer is at this point, but it is still drinking pretty well...

22 fl. oz. unlabeled bottle shared by alexesdad06 at the weekly Party Source gathering. Thanks a lot Brad! Rating #193 for this beer...

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured hazy copper color with medium frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Complex dark fruity and roasted caramel aroma. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet dark fruit finish of moderate duration. Medium body with a sticky texture. Good rich brew.

Bottle shared, I believe, by iowaherkeye. Poured a clear medium orange color with a yellow-ish head. Lots of smells; toffee, steeping barley, fig, alcohol, and even tobacco. Sweet and not as flavorful as it was aromatic. I tasted husky grain, corn sugar, and some toffee. So so.

Zeeland 08’ tasting. Last beer of the night. I have been holding on to this one for awhile now. Kind of afraid to actually try it, because I thought it would be a let down. Aroma was really nice tangerines, caramel and a slight bitterness. Taste much the same, sort of hit and then slowly trailed off. Still well balanced after all these years (how old is this stuff? Goldtwins?) Not as syrupy sweet as I was dreading. Well, the name fits, because zeeland 08’ tasting was a very excellent adventure, one that I hope to take again. Thanks to the Zeeland crew, and to Bills parents, who are some of the kindest people I have met. Cheers!

thanks to bitbucket tasting. Floral hops mixed w/ big surary malt. Caramel and dark fruits. A touch of peat/smoke. Light carbonation and no head left. Very solid.
