Commercial Description:
Dogwood Stout is a dry, Irish stout. We use a combination of roasted barley, flaked barley and chocolate malt to create a complex, textured maltiness with hints of coffee and chocolate with a rich fullness of body. We leave it unfiltered to add to its complexity. Its deep, dark mysterious color is topped off by a robust creamy head. It too is naturally carbonated. Dogwood Stout won a Silver Medal Winner at the 1997 World Beer Championships and was named one of top two microbrews in Atlanta by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Dogwood Stout is available in bottles and on tap anytime of the year.

Dark ruby. Decent brown head. Heavy on chocolate malts and licorice flavor. Slight taste of roasted malts. Slightly sour. Decent roasted/burnt aftertaste. A strange beer, but still enjoyable.

I found this one buried in the ole beer fridge, a remnant of a year old trade with Jeremy. Still good, absolutely. Deop black pour with nice dandruff. Hugely roasted aroma - one you could smell for awhile. Modest body - reminiscent of a porter. Tasted of roasted barley, with bitter chocolate and a hoppy twang at the finish. This is a nice everday type of stout.

Pours out of a 12oz single a solid black, impervious even to direct light. It took an aggressive pour to get out even the meager off-white head it provided, what is there sticks firmly to the glass. Mocha and roasted coffee beans are heavy on the nose with a slight, vague fruitiness present as well. Smell is awesome. Mouthfeel is a bit lighter than I expected. Nice taste, sweet up front, roasty in the middle with light pangs of bitterness at the end. Very refreshing for a stout, almost pushes itself into "session" territory.

Roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Flavor starts out sweet but finishes quite dry and bitter. Could use more body as it is a little light for a stout.

Kudos to BeerCellar2 for the brew. Pours black, small head, goes quick. Malty and sweet. Really improves as it warms. I like!

Thanks to The_Beer_Cellar2 for this one. Pours black and fully opaque with a moderate tan head that diminishes with little lacing. Aroma is full, with lots of dark roasted malts, bitter chocolate and oily coffee present. Flavor is nice, dry, bitter, tart and mildly sweet with an astringent finish. Thick body, mildly carbonated. Nice brew!

Deep black with a thick off white head. Nice roasted malt aroma that intensifies as the brew warms. Caramel, sweet malt tempered by roast malt bitterness and toffee. A little more body would improve this some, but it’s not a bad brew otherwise.

This stout pours with a black body topped by a medium thick, light brown head with some lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet yet bitter, slightly roasty with strong licorice notes and fruity notes. The flavor is sweet, roasty and malty with nice coffee notes and a little bitterness. Full bodied, slightly tingly and a touch dry.
