Commercial Description:
Dogwood Stout is a dry, Irish stout. We use a combination of roasted barley, flaked barley and chocolate malt to create a complex, textured maltiness with hints of coffee and chocolate with a rich fullness of body. We leave it unfiltered to add to its complexity. Its deep, dark mysterious color is topped off by a robust creamy head. It too is naturally carbonated. Dogwood Stout won a Silver Medal Winner at the 1997 World Beer Championships and was named one of top two microbrews in Atlanta by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Dogwood Stout is available in bottles and on tap anytime of the year.

Bonus ’03 bottle from shp555. Wow, thanks. Pours deep brown with an unexpectedly huge head but little retention. No lacing to speak of. Aroma of chocolate, dark malts, coffee and a bit of dark fruits. Tastes mostly of choffee. Slightly bitter finish. Extra fizzy carbonation. This held up amazingly well.

12oz bottle, courtesy of SpringsLicker. Thanks, Jay! Pours a dark brown color; light tan head with patchy lacing. Pleasant roasted malt and marshmallow in the aroma. Medium, milk chocolate and lightly roasted malt mouthfeel: hints of smoke and a slight viscosity. Medium, dry and dark chocolate finish.

12 oz bottle, via DocLock. Pours a completely pitch black body under a minimal dark brown head that faded quickly to a very thin ring. Nose is very roasty with alot of bitter chocolate, light burnt malt, and a light note of smoke. Flavor is very dry and roasty with some licorice and a light chalkiness on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slightly oily texture and still enough carbonation to keep it interesting. Overall, this was still pretty tasty. Maybe a little thinned out but no oxidation at all.

Dark brown pour. Thin bubbly head. Licorice cough syrup and dry roasted malts. Kind of interesting. Thin body, but okay taste for a 4-year old dry stout. Some dry chocolate, malty licorice.

Thanks Chuck. The beer pours to a dark brown body with a thin dark brown head. The aroma is dry black malt with minimal oxidation. Some silky chocolates. The flavor is chocolate and light papery malts. Oxidation. Moderate palate that finishes dry.

a nice dark pour w/ a good tan to brown head dissapates kinda quickly and doesnt lace very well. A nice dry chalky and coffee good roast malt notes fairly typical dry stout aroma. Palate is a bit thin for a stout. The beer has some noticable oxidation in the flavor mostly a roast malt flavor w/ some light hints of bittersweet chocolate. Pretty good, wish I could have tried it back in it’s day.

2004 12 oz. bottle via trade with IrishBoy - This beer is probably passed its prime. Gonna give it a go anyways. Pours a thick, deep dark brown color with a small tan head. Very light spotty lacing. Has a dark roasted malt aroma. Has a light burnt malt flavor. Palate is very thin and dry. Oxidation is noticeable. Light to medium body. Would have been nice to try this beer a couple years ago. Still, I’m glad I had the opportunity to try it. Big thanks to Richard.
