Commercial Description:
Dogwood Stout is a dry, Irish stout. We use a combination of roasted barley, flaked barley and chocolate malt to create a complex, textured maltiness with hints of coffee and chocolate with a rich fullness of body. We leave it unfiltered to add to its complexity. Its deep, dark mysterious color is topped off by a robust creamy head. It too is naturally carbonated. Dogwood Stout won a Silver Medal Winner at the 1997 World Beer Championships and was named one of top two microbrews in Atlanta by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Dogwood Stout is available in bottles and on tap anytime of the year.

Courtesy of Springslicker <P> Huge head nearly killed me when I poured it. Aroma is cola, roasted malt and mild chocolate. Black with an enormous head. Fore is sweet chocolate followed by roasty malts, some riaisny notes and burnt bread. A bit of fruity sweetness comes in toward the finish along with a spicy tobacco like flavor that comes off stale.

This beer offers an aroma of ground coffee. The color is dark dark brown and has no head or lacing. A coffee tast that leaves a sour taste lingering.

Pours an absolutely ginormous brown head, it just blew out of the bottle when I opened it. Aroma is chocolately, with coffee, figs. Flavor is malty, chocolately, a touch of cherries and sweetness. A little overcarbonated. Overall a nice simple stout.

Bottle acquired in trade with SpringsLicker (thanks!). Best before date of 12/19/04. Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized light brown head. Aromas of light vanilla, chocolate and roasted malts. Tastes of light vanilla, chocolate, light dark fruits and very light coffee.

Thanks to hopdog... Appears black with a tan head that slowly fades into a small collar. Smell is of black patent malts, slightly sour & medicinal. Taste is roughly about the same of the aromas. Mouthfeel is strange but drinkable. A bit dry with a mild abrassiveness.

Poured an opaque black color with a small, light tan head that left some lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla beans, sweet chocolate, light roast, and some faint fruitiness. Taste of chocolate, roast, some smoke, with dried fruits... it had a dry finish.

I’m pretty sure SpringLicker hooked me up with this beer. It has sat in my cellar for a long while, just waiting. The beer blew the cap off, but didn’t fizz. The stuff is eager to be drank. Best buy 12/14/2004? (smuged) Drank in an english pint. The fizz shows up when the beer is poured. Hug head, better than 4/5 of the glass. The aroma is roasted coffee and dark roasted malt. The flavor is bitter, roased barley with coffee notes and an astringent finish. The mouthfeel is full despite the astringent finish, but the extra carbonation is in the way. I’ll bet the carbonation is my fault, so I won’t complain too mucha about it. This is a nice dry stout, but still not my favorite style. I feel sorry for the people of Atlanta who lost some good beers with the demise of the brewery.

A bottle in a bar that said "best if tasted by 1/24/2004". haha, despite that, it was way impressive. it was very comparable to brooklyn black chocolate stout. it had a very sweet malty aroma, with some marshmellowy flavors and some dark chocolate roasts.
