Commercial Description:
Dogwood Summer Brew is a Belgian-style white beer with 2-row barley, both malted and unmalted wheat, and a touch of oats. Dried orange peel and coriander are added for a unique, subtle complexity. The Belgian yeast provides a smooth roundness to the beer while giving off subtle hints of peach and apricot flavors. It is naturally carbonated it and unfiltered.

This beer poured a medium yellow to slight orange color with a slight soapy white head, but it died off very quickly. There was also a slight degree of cloudiness in this beer. The aroma was light with definite coriander, orange, lemon and citrus in there. Light to medium bodied beer with a dry, malty but tart finish. Its definitely a summer brew but it had a nice mellow long-lasting finish. It began to smell and taste like a grassy field in the middle of Kansas as it warmed but it was definitely very light on the carbonation. Relatively unexciting, but worth the try!

Medium orange gold color. Small to no head. Aroma is orange, coriander and lemon. A light to medium bodied white. Malts are fruity, with lots of orange and a ton of coriander. Light and refreshing, kind of grassy tasting. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Might have been a little bit old, carbonation was kind of flat.

Hazy yellow color with a small white head. Aroma of orange and coriander. Flavor of pears and coriander. Some bitterness and spice in the finish. Thanks to Dogbrick for the trade.

Bottle pours a slightly hazy light golden, small white dishwater like head that quickly diminishes, lively carbonation, with fairly sticky lacing.   Corriander, slight pear, and spices on the nose.   Flavor doesn’t come across as a Belgian Witbier tho, moreso like a slightly thick spicy pilsner.   Mouthfeel wasn’t as wheaty as a Witbier should be, and the body was fairly average.   Subtle spices, unsweetened, on the finish.   Very minor wheaty mouthfeel appears at the end.   Thanks goes out to goldtwins for the trade!

On tap at Summits Wayside Tavern...Excellent summer brew...Not overloaded with wheaty flavors that I typically associate with this seasons offerings...nice and refreshing..great on a hot day at the disc golf course or wherever you may find yourself...Beautiful use of oranges and corriander really finishes nicely...IN contrast I thought it was awful from a bottle. So i docked it a couple of points for a lack of consistency

bottle-thanks to goldtwins on this one! pours a light orange hue with very little cloudyness for a wit. very little head and mild carbonation. lots of banana for a wit, more like a hefe with notes of spice, citrus, orange. flavors are nice and spicy, orange peal, banana, and a metallic tingle on the finish. good brew, but to me, this is a hefe, not a wit.

Bottle. For a wit, it seemed i bit maltier that I really care for. Taste was clean though, with a light yeasty dough taste. Mellow citrus and a slight bit of coriander flavor. Very refreshing but again, just a tad too sweet for my liking.

Being of a style that I’m somewhat biased against, I didn’t expect to like this very much. I was pleasantly surprised. Poured a cloudy gold with a great deal of carbonation, lots of floating solids, and a foamy white head. Aroma was dominated by orange, lemon, pineapple and a potpourri note from the coriander, and I found the flavor to be just about identical. Thin mouthfeel, but easy to drink and quite flavorful. A new favorite for me as far as witbiers go.
