Commercial Description:
Dogwood Summer Brew is a Belgian-style white beer with 2-row barley, both malted and unmalted wheat, and a touch of oats. Dried orange peel and coriander are added for a unique, subtle complexity. The Belgian yeast provides a smooth roundness to the beer while giving off subtle hints of peach and apricot flavors. It is naturally carbonated it and unfiltered.

On tap: Pours a lightly hazy copper with a thick puffy white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt with a hint of spice. Body starts nicely sweet and full with a well balanced coriander and orange citrus flavor. Smooth and drinkable, with decent complexity and good balance. A very nice Dogwood beer.

Golden hazed wit with a thin white head. Aroma of coriander and bananas with light oranges. Light wheaty malt with light orange notes. Lighter bodied than Blanche de Chambly. Trade with Goldtwins, if I remember. Tasted Spring 2006.

Medium orange gold color. Small to no head. Aroma is orange, coriander and lemon. A light to medium bodied white. Malts are fruity, with lots of orange and a ton of coriander. Light and refreshing, kind of grassy tasting. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Might have been a little bit old, carbonation was kind of flat.

Bottle. For a wit, it seemed i bit maltier that I really care for. Taste was clean though, with a light yeasty dough taste. Mellow citrus and a slight bit of coriander flavor. Very refreshing but again, just a tad too sweet for my liking.

Had on tap at the Mellow Mushroom in Chattanooga. Light golden color, cloudy, decent sized white head. Fresh fruity aroma, , thick mouth-coating mouthfeel. Fresh, citrusy flavor -all in all refreshing.

Thanks to aracauna for the trade. This is definitely one of the best Wits I have tried, even if it is not the best example of the style. In fact, many of the elements in a more classic version of the style that I do not enjoy are not a factor in this brew. Pours a murky dark orange with a thin off-white head. Thin lacing. Nicely spiced aroma, with some citrus and vanilla. Light and crisp with a nice citrus aspect, along with yeast, cloves, coriander and other spices. The finish is sweet and lingering. Tbis is an outstanding brew for summer enjoyment.

A very crisp and spicy witbier. A pleasant surprise. Not really all that wit-ish in its appearance (it’s more golden amber colored). Coriander seems to be in here with all the spices. Check this one out.
