Great big yeasty, citrusy, spicy aroma. Very large head with meringue-like stiffness. Flavor is perhaps less spicy than the typical belgian strong pale, but it’s also a bit sweeter and a maltier. Excellent beer. The only real problem is that , like several of the other Dogwoods I’ve had in the bottle, it’s a foamer. Be very wary when opening a bottle from Dogwood. I believe it was slikwily that arranged for this rare vintage Dogwood Winter Ale to be served at our recent Ratebeer Minnesota gathering. There was concernthat it might be past its prime, but I think it proved itself to be one of the stars in our star-studded 21 beer lineup that evening that included no less than 7 top-50 beers. Unique aroma with saffron notes. White head; lasting. Good amount of visible carbonation. Nice lace. Saffron flavor with toffee notes. Well balanced. Nice complexity of flavors and sugars. Hazy golden color, small head that faded quite fast.Malty, fruity aroma with hints of yeast and spice as well.Very nice citrus taste somewhat syrupy and quite flavorful,Fairly spicy taste with a light malt and mild hops flavor, but mostly this brew seems to lean towards fruit and spice with the after taste being fruity, and spicy as well.Very decent brew not as high as some Belgians have been for ABV.but still decent in it's own right and worth having another. belgianhomebrew (646), Acworth, Georgia, USA
