Dark chocolate and raisin aroma. Chocolate and fresh dark fruit in the flavour.

firstly, this is NOT a dubbel, far from it. This is, like jcalabre pointed out, a spiced ale, there´s no doubt about that. Spicy fruity aroma, with some hints of hops. Taste is of sweet candy, spices and fruits, mouthfeel very wet, Also some earthy outhouse hint in this, this was quite a surprise, but had a much more stout or barley wine feeling to it rather then a dubbel

Poured dark red with a minimal, but lasting head. Quite spicy with medium body. Has a hint of porter-style malt. Just not creamy enough to score higher.

You know my lowest rated Abbey Dubbel thus far is a 3.8! This style is just amazing if done correctly. And Dogwood did a nice job here. Aroma of cherries and grapes. Flavor is velvety with a rich chocolate covered cherry and pine flavor. Slightly spicy and sweet aftertaste. I am regaining faith in Suthurn burs!

Draught. Strange spoiled aroma with strong spiciness. Cinnamon appearance, slightly hazy with beige head. Strong cinnamon flavor mixed with spoiled flavor. Sour and bad yeasty finish. Not very good. Rerate: Not as spoiled this time. It still tastes bad. The flavor is ruined by misplaced spices.

What is that in the aroma? Nutmeg? It's some kind of potent spice, anyway. This isn't bad - full-bodied and good for cold and rainy days.

smells and taste like moldey pines; reminds me of camping int he fall with a sinus headache. But it looked nice, what a disappointement.
