Bottle thanks to TheBeerCellar2 (Matt). I am pouring this into a wine glass. As I pop this I get a strong malt aroma. Smells like an English Strong Ale (BW or Old ale). The head is thick but fades to lacing in about a minute. The color is really really dark brown, almost black and barely translucent. Aroma is very strong and very malty with burnt brownies (similar to the Lees Harvest Ale I had last night ). The taste is very different though. The mouthfeel is a lot more carbonated. A medium body, actually were smooth just pours down my mouth. Very surprising, not so heavy and very light for such a strong beer. Maybe the aging has done it. I am loving it more with ever sip. The maltiness has subsided but still present along with a brownie aftertaste and some roasty coffee. The carbonation is starting to get annoying. I got another bottle which I’ll put aside for a few more years.

bottle at the Hampton tasting - Poured dark brown with a nice head. Light aroma of yeast and fruit notes. The flavor is of caramel malt with some dark fruit coming through. There’s a lively, medium bodied palate and a crisp finish. Nice.

Bottle thanks to TBC2: Red/brown color. Some dark fruits, chocolate, caramel, a nice bit of spicyness. Really nice beer.

12oz. bottle thanks to Cornboy. Clear mahogany color with a large sudsy tan head that quickly dissipated. Aroma of chocolate malts, tart cherries, caramel and brown sugar. Dry, mildly tart flavor of chocolate, dried fruits, brown sugar and an aftertaste that reminds me of an ashtray. Very aggressive carbonation.

Drank in April of 06.Deep dark brown pour with audible carbonation that was part of a thick sandy looking brown head. I swear I smell bourbon in this along with molasses and vanilla. A definite scotch edge to the flavor that is not harsh but enjoyable. Light level of chocolate and toffee with some spiciness. A sarsaparilla flavor in the woody bitter finish. This is a wonderful sipper that is only getting better with each taste. So much enjoyable flavor. Woody mixed with a light banana comes out at one point then it is a sweeter chocolate covered cherry flavor that I discern. Leaves a great feeling in my mouth. It coats my tongue well and scratches that itch on my palate. A lingering chocolate note with a cigar flavor that is fantastic. Ap-5 ar-8 tas-9 pal-5 ov-18

Incredible gas opening, had to bleed to prevent spraying. Dark and cloudy and dissipating and retaining head. Molasses and spice, mostly molasses. Not overly carbonated, good lace, a strong ale. From Atlanta crew. Surprisingly moderate mouthfeel.

Great-looking: dark reddish-brown body with a very lush, frothy head. Slightly sour nose, with hints of cherries and prunes. Somewhat chocolately, somewhat spicy - very malty with hints of caraml. Overall, pretty decent.

Thanks to TheBeerCellar2 for this one - pours a nice dark burgundy color, with a very frothy, long-lasting head - aroma of plums, chocolate and some cellar/must - the medium body, foamy mouthfeel, dark fruit and chocolate of the flavor all seem very dubbel-like - near lack of hops, some caramel and toffee finish - very belgian-like - I like!
