Pours dark brown with a fizzy-foamy tan head and lined lacing. Aroma is malt (caramel, roasted, cookie), port, alcohol and dark fruit (prune, plum, figs) with a perfumey hop nose. Moderately acidic and bitter, alcohol and port abounds, oak notes, caramel roasted malt, medium sweetness, hints of vanilla. Dark and full bodied, dry-spicy-fizzy palate. matta (1139), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 23, 2006 Which one of you Georgia / Tennessee guys up there sent me this beer? I’ve had it down here for 16 or so months now… a forgotten RB friend!
Pours with a cloudy dark crimson body and a rocky light tan head. The aroma is full of caramel, toffee, some date sugars, and lovely suggestions of coco. There is a presence of brown sugar and a mixed can of nuts. The beer seemed a bit oxidized, rather raw and compote like. There is an odd presence of biscuity, kind of funky yarthy yeasts. Although tasty, as I did rather enjoy the drinking experience, the beer seemed rather discombobulated and obscure. It seemed to be lacking an identity. kramer (2524), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 23, 2006 12 oz bottle, via TheBeerCellar2. Pours a murky brown with a fizzy light brown head. Lots of visible carbonation. Sedimented bottle. Lightly sour aroma with dark fruits, yeast, and some alcohol. Flavor is fruity with yeast, alcohol, chocolate, and lighter notes of coffee and smoke. Some oxidation noted as well. Medium bodied with an intense fizziness that caused torrents of carbonation to rise off the tongue as I rolled it around my mouth. Towards the end of the bottle, some of the carbonation seemed to bubble out on its own and the mouthfeel did improve some. I can assume that this has lost alot of character over the 3 years this has been cellared. Never having tried this before I would guess that this is on the downhill slide. Drink ’em if ya got ’em. Dark brown pour, aromas of dried fruit and malt in the nose. Was expecting spice like most winter beers, but this one is predominantly malt. No sense of this being 8.5%, very well hidden. A bit on the sweet side in the finish. Not bad beeryum (652), Norcross, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 19, 2006 Bottle, at some point in the last couple months. Hazy brown pour, and active on the carbonation with a big head. Fairly big caramel malty aroma, with some fruit in there too, raisins and some prune. More sweet caramel flavors with an aged touch of leather to it, and more dark fruit as well. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA

The color was a muddy murky brown. I got alot of caremel and raisons in both the aroma and body. It aged well i must say, not that i had it early but it was good when it was 2 yrs old. walleye (882), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
