1 L #10 of 2500. Poured hazy brown. Aroma was fruity and doughy. Raisins and plums. Flavor also of dark fruits and sweet. Some spice as well on the back end. Light to medium bodied.

Bottle pours muddy brown, small fizzly off-white head that quickly disappears, lively carbonation, with spotty lacing.   Earthy aroma, sweet, bready... slight alcohol.   Bready, muted dark pitted fruit, somewhat like a Belgian Dubbel but the body is fairly dull.   Mouthfeel is also a bit weak.   Finishes semi-sweet, honey like, with soft fig/dates and hearty bread.   Decent offering, but wondering if its past its prime.   Too bad Dogwood is no more.   Thanks goes out to goldtwins for the trade!

11.24.04 12oz bottle from springslicker -- Thanks, Jay! A gusher, this brew erupted from the bottle a foamy mess of delicious smelling foam. Once contained in a Duvel tulip, a lovely dark color is realized and an expectedly large khaki head that lasts. Deep chocolate truffle aromas, no, tiramisu? Something rich and chocolatey with hints of cream and liquor. Very inviting, thankfully - you never know what to expect with a gusher. Something roasty or burnt on the nose that carries into the flavor. medium palate is soft, lightly eff, mildly unctuous. Sort of a dubbel meets porter style without the harshness of major alcohol influence of too strong roasting. Nice beer, laid back and mild all around. It’s too bad about Dogwood.

Pours dark with a large head that remains. Aroma slight chocolate, coffee, and citrusy hops. Flavor is the same as the aroma. Nice winter warmer, a bit different with the citrus hop hints.

Hazy brown coloured body with a ruby tint. Aroma of cherries and roasted malt. Medium-bodied; Full mouthfell, sweet caramel flavours with roasted malt and some chocolate and coffee tastes. Overall, a decent beer-nothing more nothing less! I sampled this 12 ounce bottle on 15-May-2004 at the May RB Party in Toronto, Onatrio.

Muddy Brown. Aroma of chocolate, odd spicing, dried fruits, burnt banana, red apple skins and clove. Much like the aroma the flavor mainly consists of red apple: dried, skins, left out, glazed and fresh along with notes of cherries, chocolate and various dried fruits. This reminds me of Caulier beer in a few ways. Thanks Ernest.

Well I don’t think I would rush to grab one when looking for a good Dubbel but it was still a good beer. Rich brown with a frothy head and slightly spicy undercurrents. Easy-drinking medium-bodied beer.

Thanks to goldtwins for the trade. Pours a very hazy dark amber/brown color with a medium thick and sudsy white head. Thick and slow lacing. The aroma is roasty with some spice and vinegar. Medium-bodied with a lightly sour fruit character. Earthy malt, coffee and spices are in evidence as well. The finish is tart with a touch of yeast. This is not as good as the ’01version but still it’s a shame it won’t be made anymore.
