| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 8, 2006 I just drank my last bottle from this now departed brewer. I kept this bottle for 2 years. Pours black like used crankcase oil with nice lacing. Almost no carbonation. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, & burned malt. Rich taste of malt, chocolate, & peat. In sum, an excellent Porter-style beer (and I hope that this recipe will be passed on to a brewer that will continue to brew this delicious Porter). kenb (1100), Oregon, USA

Pours out a motor oil thick midnight black with SMALL 2 IN" head. Wonderful aroma of espresso, chocolate, toffee, vanilla, and plums. Creamy mouthfeel. Starts off chcolately sweet and ends in a roasted burnt espresso finish. Strong bitter licorice aftertaste. Medium carbonation. This is a great Baltic Porter and the most perfectly balanced between dry roasted bitter espresso and still retaining a little chocolate sweetness. Yummy stuff. Oh, and give it 20 minutes to warm, and it is groovilicious and out of sight! Engelsmann (653), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 11, 2006 Bottle from a trade with TheBeerCellar2. Opaque ebony with a tiny dark tan head. Smoky malt aroma with chocolate, molasses, and plum notes. Smoky malt flavor with chocolate and caramel-mocha tones, and a bit of the hops shows up in a bitter note to the finish. It got more flavorful as it slowly warmed! TAR (2095), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2006 Opaque brown. Rich tan head slowly fizzles into a tight collar. Deeply roasty nose with smoky molasses, wax, and burnt fruitcake. Very minor oxidation. Prickly, yet gentle, carbonation. Opens very softly with a lactic sweetness which is soon cut by a gritty earthy roast onslaught. Truckloads of bitter char and black chocolate follow suit and continue to uphold the body. Hugely complex display of malt, with a peated malt and smoky molasses blend. Intensely rich java latches onto the palate and seemingly forces it downward with a weighty pull. Powdery textures of bready malts provide a complementary cushion to the metallic malts and subtle vinous character. Fairly slick due to the restrained carbonation, and quite inky. Tar drizzled java dominates the finish as a wet bed of unspent roasted grains deflects the gritty roast snap. Other than the overt graininess, which is a bit of a detraction, this is a delicious malt mammoth. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 28, 2006 Bottle from thebeercellar2: Dark brown pour with a good sized head. Aroma had some vanilla and roasted chocolaty notes. Flavor had a nice sweet roasty combination, it did feel like it was just a little too old. Had a perfect mouthfeel for a porter, very good beer.
